Deck Description

Yeah, I went there. Honestly, I really love Monoblue decks, and I think blue is theoretically one of the strongest colors in Magic--my personal opinion, of course. Blue is the only color that can create a well-rounded deck that has access to countermagic, tempo effects, evasive creatures, card advantage, combat tricks, and sound finishers. This is my take on what Mono-blue control might look like in standard.

Honestly, this deck probably isn't scg-open quality--but it might have some fun at FNM. It's also cheaper than a lot of the control decks flying around right now. If you want to have some fun and play a cheap control deck for FNM, sleeve this up (maybe cut the Jaces and the Mutavaults) and wow people.

One thing that the deck does have going for it though is A.) It has a solid mana base and can actually play Mutavault and B) It doesn't have any "ETB Tapped" lands, which can be a huge issue against aggro decks.

This deck is also meant to show off some of the really awesome things Scry can do. Once this deck gets into the late game, you have so many scry capabilities that not hitting an answer to a creature would be almost absurd.

The only thing this deck is really lacking is a solid board wipe, and curse of the swine does a fair enough job, especially when combined with cyclonic rift and the other bounce effects.

Comments and suggestions always appreciated!

Deck discussion for Mono... Blue???

Two cards the deck is really missing are tide bender mage and night veil specter. those both add lots of devotion for your master of the waves, and are great on their own against a slew of decks. you may want to consider running another thassa because she's so good, and besides that I really like it. it looks nice.

I agree, Drop 2 opportunity, 1 Dissolve and 1 master of waves for 4 of them imo :D
