Deck Description

SnapStill is currently my quick pick for control, which is kind of setting a theme of my primary decks of the moment involving Standstill.

Deck discussion for The power of NOPE compels you!

I don't nearly have a wallet for most legacy decks (why I run dredge) but I really love Snapcaster Control decks. Especially to play against. They make for games that require a lot of thinking on both sides; moreso than against other archetypes. I love your inclusion of the singleton academy ruins. It doesn't seem to hurt your mana base, plus it brings back explosives. Delicious. Why did you include ghastly demise over, say, a singleton crop rotation(or another kill spell or counterspell)? Hm. Though, now that I think about it, it seems like a pretty good card for your deck.

I'm right there with you, I only get to do designs like this if somebody loans me something or it's a proxy tournament. And Dredge is actually a really fun deck to break into with, it also only gets better if you decide your next project is going to be combo(LED into Faithless Looting with a troll in hand? Yes, very yes!).
Snapcaster Control is pretty fun to play on either side of the table I agree, it makes disruption of any kind swing so much advantage that I can't help but love how back and forth games get.
Academy Ruins is one of the oddball choices I've long enjoyed seeing other people use in LandStill, and this is my first time actually running it myself actually. I totally regret not using it before. Going to have to put a couple of cards in my SB for it even!
Ghastly Demise is honestly the best 1cmc kill spell in this deck, and for me it's one of my favorites in general. The idea of using Crop Rotation in it's place is quite tempting though, or maybe even Entomb... It would add a bit of a toolbox aspect to the deck that is kind of lacking. But I think it would require a serious overhaul to support it properly.

I'm glad you like the deck, this thing is super fun to play!

I tend to beat LED dredge decks after sideboard...but other than that, I tend to loose game one in the semi-mirror.
(I ask the magic gods for a good game 2 and game 3).
I wish I had the money for LEDs.
I wish I had the money for LandStill, Snapcaster, or shardless BUG.
(I just love the color combinations of BG, UG, and BUG).

Yeah, your deck looks really fun. I might try proxying it to play with anybody who attends the legacy tournaments. I'm happy that, within 5 miles of me, there are 4 gaming stores that collectively cover all formats (EDH tournaments, too) except vintage.

Good luck on your sideboard! It looks pretty good to me; then again, I have no experience playing this deck.

LED Dredge is usually pretty easy to beat game two, the explosiveness is lost because of hate, and the option to play slow is where most designs(my own included) fall a bit flat. But beating it /regularly/ in the semi-mirror is actually pretty good.
They're a good investment if you play competitively, but casual they're quite frowned upon. If you go down that road, even if they're given to you, make sure you are okay with being "that one dick".
I do too... This is an online or cards on loan deck mostly now.

Thanks, and that's pretty awesome! I have to leave my city, or do small tournaments with less than 16 people when we want to be competitive... Unless I want to play Standard, but the phrase "let's play Standard!" has probably never left my lips.

And Sure is right, we're pretty much unicorns here... *feels fabulous*

The BIG reason I play legacy is because I've been collecting these flippin' cards since 95 or 96 and the thought of not being able to use all the cards I have pisses me off to no end. I HATE standard.
Within the last year though I've sold a ton of my cards to buy recording stuff... I can't say I do not miss my dual lands though. Thankfully though I did keep my Tundra's. :-)

Yeah. I hate standard because I can't constantly buy new cards for a meta that drastically changes every month or so. I play, in order of frequency, limited, EDH, casual multiplayer with my friends nearby the school theatre (though I'm not in theatre, I play tuba and trombone for different bands), legacy, and modern. Standard once. When both overwhelming stampede and overrun were in standard (maybe I should play more if that's it).

I love how your sideboard is coming along! It seems pretty interractive and has a lot of synergies with your deck to begin with.
