My favorite fantasy artist has always been DiTerlizzi. His color and shape and the way he makes such fantastic images come to life have always appealed to me. In a similar way rk post and Ron Spencer have also been favorites of mine over the years. For a while I tried to make a DiTerlizzi deck, but it never really worked, so I realized that if I added my second and third favorites I would have a lot more card base to work from.Making a deck with just the artists left me with little options for possible commanders. Originally (and I still may do it) I was going to make this deck red black with kaervek, because rk post has mountains and Ron spencer has swamps. But in the end I felt my favorite artist's best work was in green. And Rob Alexander has some great forest art that fits well with these other guys (specifically for this deck I went for his shadowmoor art).I know that some of the cards listed above have the art from a different artist, but it is worth looking up the appropriate art. These guys are great and honestly, didn't we all get into this game, at least on some level, because of the art on the cards.
And even better, this deck is playable!At its heart this is a green stompy deck. But there are a few tricks up the sleeve. I love forgotten harvest, so I made sure there was a few ways to get lands into the graveyard, spell shapers, discard costs, crop rotation etc... I considered putting in crucible of Worlds in there (art by Ron Spencer) but it doubled the cost of the deck. I couldn't bring myself to do that.Trophy hunter +venomspout are great together as dragon killers.Lots of saporlings, because they are cool like bow ties.Ok... So not a lot of tricks... It's a pretty deck though. And it is a simple deck for a beginner that will keep them interested in the art if nothing else. So use it for recruitment.Edit: the extra cards in the sideboard are from unglued / unhinged and are artist specific cards.... Seriously your play group should allow them in a deck like this.
