Deck Description

Howling Mine accelerates everyone's card draw [including yours]

Forced fruition will either accelerate their card draw to unsustainable levels, or lock them down to the point where they can't play anything.

Underworld Dreams ensures they pay for every single one of those cards.

Liliana's caress is a "damned if you do/damned if you don't" scenario once Forced Fruition is out (you have to play spells to avoid discarding, but playing makes you draw).

Venser's Journal makes Howling Mine a life generator.

Psychic Possession let's you draw as many or as few cards as you like once Forced Fruition is out (if you have the journal out, you obviously want to draw all 7).

Tormod's Crypt keeps them from delaying the inevitable (and shuts down flashback/unearth decks).

Reminisce is a backstop in case the Mine is about to deck you (or a teammate in multiplayer).

Duress is a bitch one turn one all on it's own, and it's even worse when Liliana's caress is out. {B} to see your entire hand, remove something from it, and deal you 2 damage? Yes please.

Some counters/boomerangs to keep you alive until you can get setup, and Perplex can transmute out your Underworld Dreams.

Dreadship Reef for mana-accel (save the mana for counters, and if you don't use any, dump them into the Reef at the end of an opponent's turn)

How to Play

Get Underworld Dreams & Liliana's Caress out as soon as possible.

Fend them off with counters until you can get the Journal & some Howling Mines out, and remove some early DD from their hand with Duress.

Drop Forced Fruition (and ideally Psychic Possession), and just ride it out. Your life will go up at the same rate as their's plummets, and unless they are playing a Journal/Spellbook type card themselves, there's no way they won't be discarding gobs of cards...and if they are playing one of those, boomerang it on a turn they tap out before their discard step.

Deck discussion for Win, Lose & Draw

Still tinkering with ways to get Forced Fruition out quicker without having to splash a 3rd color or add any creatures. THis deck was build with the additional challenge of "use no creatures"...just to see if I could do it.

High Tide and Dark Ritual are both really good mana ramp. Make it even more effective by adding isochron scepter.

I would have both of those, save for trying to stick to Modern format. I'm still holding out hope they reprint dark ritual...someday...
