Deck Description

Based on the idea from this deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/scottyc/decks/the-arcanists-arsenal/

The idea was to use this deck's Arcanist combo as a starting idea, then let it become something a bit new. It can mill, life drain and beat down all in one. It's just a matter of which happens first.

How to Play

Once you have about 4-5 mana, your options just get more and more open. Arcanist can hexproof all of your creatures every turn, or counter a spell every turn, or kill creatures every turn with his ability. Dimir Charm is an excellently flexible spell, so it's a great exile card for your Arcanists.

There's no need to clone him every time though. Clone an enemy creature if it's strong, or mill a strong one and clone it. Copy an Aberration and start milling out the enemy, and crush them with the Aberrations and Phantasms. Get Duskmantle Mages on the field, and start draining life every time the enemy mills a card. Use Illusionist's Bracers on basically anybody to make the dangerous into the downright scary.

There's plenty of options in the sideboard to deal with threats. Aetherize will shut down token gen decks, Kraken Hatchling if the enemy is moving fast. Mind sculpt it it's a control deck vulnerable to mill, and Tormod's Crypt if their strategy relies on having cards in the graveyard.
