Deck Description

The Azorius are out in force, and with their mastery of flight your enemies will have nowhere to run.

This is meant to be a kind of fun, entry-level beginner deck with some simple combos and interesting decisions. It's got a good few Mythic cards, but they're cheap, ideal for beginners. Every card in the deck benefits the other cards in some way, but the big combo you want to see is Windreader Sphinx and Warden of Evos Isle. All your flyers are much cheaper, and you get to draw more cards to play more flyers.

A few Azorius cards are in there too, but partly just for flavour more than anything else, especially Isperia.

How to Play

Naturally, the essential thing to do is get down the Warden-Windreader combo, that's your first goal.

Of course, there's more to it than that. Lock down two enemy blockers with Hidden Strings, reset your lands with the Cipher effect. This will give you enough extra mana to Negate next turn, or get down extra creatures. Combined with a few Wardens (Which you will find if you have Windreaders down), you can do great things with the strings trick. Say you have 2 mana left, use it to untap 2 lands, cipher for a further 2. You now have 4 lands open, and with 2 wardens on the field that's enough to cast almost any card in the deck, even Isperia. A few Jelenn Sphix will turn your puny pegasi into game-breaking threats, and Serra Angels with Jelenn Sphinx will create a wall of high-power fliers with vigilance, leaving no opportunity to strike back.

Most decks you face would involve one or two angels or fliers, but they certainly wouldn't be able to handle a deck made purely of them. What few do come up can always be locked down with Detain, Hidden Strings or Runner's Bane, so it shouldn't be a massive problem for you.
