This deck is just mean! It doesn't strictly need it, but perhaps a single Didgeridoo for flavor? Also a great way to get surprise defenders out. Also seems odd not to have at least one Flurry of Horns...but perhaps that's a little too lopsided vs the Centaur side, then. *shrug* Just my two bits! You inspired me to try my hard at my own Duel Deck: Elspeth vs. Xenagos. I'd very much appreciate your input if you have a spare minute, NW. Love all the brewing you do...really helps push me to keep it up myself.http://www.mtgvault.com/jre47/decks/duel-deck-elspeth-vs-xenagos/http://www.mtgvault.com/jre47/decks/duel-deck-xenagos-vs-elspeth/I'd send you a private message if I could--hate to clog up one of your decks--but I'd love your feedback if you have time. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! How about Centaur Garden? Seems perfect, and Wizards' Duel Decks always seem to have one or two special lands....You inspired me to try my hard at my own Duel Deck: Elspeth vs. Xenagos. I'd very much appreciate your input if you have a spare minute, NW. Dudette, then. ;-)
Thanks, dude. :-) I'd like to think it's at least a decent FNM deck. Cheap, so I'll probably build it and find out!
Rootborn Defenses? Should have tokens to populate, too!Otherwise this just gets torn apart by mass removal. I've run W/G Humans a ton...believe me, I know. Got the scars to prove it!
Right around the time it was released it was. Hung on at about $15 for a couple months before nosediving.Unless my memory is a lot worse than I thought! :-P
Ah, I remember when Skaab Ruinator was nearly a $20 card. Now he headlines budget decks! Poor guy.Nice include with the Griffin! He probably deserves to be a "budget" mythic, but he really can be an all-star here. Good thinking!Perhaps a couple Diregraf Captain? Wracks up the bodies and even chips away at the opponent's life in the process.
Yeah, I almost posted that, but wasn't sure about linking directly to Wizards' site. I guess there's no harm in it. Thanks!Wizards' full original list, in case you can't get to the link for some reason:Creatures (5)3 Tidehollow Sculler2 Soul Warden Planeswalker (1)1 Elspeth, Knight-ErrantTokens (14)4 Lingering Souls4 Spectral Procession4 Raise the Alarm2 Shrine of Loyal LegionsAnthems and Boosts (10)3 Honor of the Pure4 Intangible Virtue3 Zealous PersecutionRemoval/Disruption (6)2 Inquisition of Kozilek3 Path to Exile1 Sword of Feast and FamineLands (24)4 Caves of Koilos2 City of Brass4 Isolated Chapel5 Plains4 Swamp1 Vault of the Archangel4 Windbrisk Heights Sideboard (15)2 Burrenton Forge-Tender3 Kataki, War’s Wage2 Dismember3 Duress3 Relic of Progenitus2 Ghost Quarter
I would probably run Banishing Light over Pharika's Cure in the sideboard. Much more versatile and only costs 1 more. Your creatures shouldn't have too much trouble with 2-toughness creatures anyway...it's bigger ones that could be trouble. If it's just creatures you're worried about, then perhaps Reprisal would be better than Cure, at least. And I'll throw one more suggestion out there for High Priest of Penance... 2-3 in the sideboard would be quite good, I think. Yes, it's situational, but in those situations, it could be backbreaking. It just destroys aggro and burn, and it eats removal early so your Necromancers and others have less to worry about later. I'd strongly encourage reconsidering.
Skink is AWESOME with Aqueous Form. Two scry triggers per attack. I'd take a second look. I think it's more reliable than Prescient Chimera, at least....
Primary question: should I find room for perhaps a pair of Frontline Medics? I figure that's be stupid good with Launch the Fleet, which is probably the biggest blowout card here. Thoughts?
Might be a SLIGHT stretch for budget, but Magma Jet seems like a must-include, possibly in place of Scouring Sands.Stormcaller of Keranos seems like it should have a place here. Maybe 2 Omenspeaker and 2 Stormcaller?Like the idea, though... +1 from me!
Yes, but doesn't fit in great with Allies. Miss that combo in Standard, though!
Good thinking!Yeah, it was painful to play against. If you can't beat 'em.... ;-)
Done and done!
I completely forgot about that! Hmm...perhaps in place of Ordeal of Purphoros?
Yeah, I'd love to reach into black or green for this and the white Grandeur decks especially, but was striving to keep them all mono-colored. Perhaps I'll try doing two-color Grandeur decks if these seem to work out well. So much potential....
All good. It's a little counterintuitive. :-)
Yes, they all enter play at the same time. But according to the rules, they all "see" the other Humans entering at the same time and get counters from each of them. That's the beauty of it.If I had two CotP and two other Humans all enter at the same time, as with Servitude, both Champions would be able to spot three other Humans (the other Champ and the other two Humans) entering the battlefield and they would each get three +1/+1 counters. I can't find the specific rule right now, but that's been verified many times. Just check the interwebs. :-)
Oh, right! Completely forgot about Druid. *headsmack* Yeah, that would work. But with only two Druids in the deck, I'd strongly recommend another couple of black mana sources. For the land base, I would recommend:2 Temple Garden3-4 Sunpetal Grove1-2 Overgrown Tomb/Woodland Cemetery (G/B land)1-2 Godless Shrine/Isolated Chapel (W/B land)Then fill in the rest with Plains and Forests...probably 3-4 more Plains than Forests. 22 total lands is about right. It really is a big help for consistency.
