main deck Blinkmoths and Inkmoths. The former buffs the latter and makes for a very fast clock. (4-5 turns is pretty fast for stax)

That's a thought. This deck's biggest weakness is Leyline of Sanctity. If I can't target my opponent, I have no win conditions. Lux Cannon would be an effective answer.

and also, Glimpse triggers when you "play" a creature spell, so there's no point destroying your chalice. You may as well get both draws.

Hilarious deck idea. I'd run more moxen. It seems like a green source is pretty critical, and they can always be countered for storm count later on.

what you're running is basically Protean-Flash. I've never seen this particular variant before, but the concept isn't new. It's possible to pull off turn 0 win (win on your opponent's first turn) with this deck. Play "Flash" on your opponent's first turn, using Gemstone and one of the shamans. Put out Protian hulk to grab 4 deathgreeters, 4 phyrexian marauders, and 4 shifting walls. Since the latter two have a casting cost of "X" (which is technically 0), and you didn't pay mana for them, they come into play as 0/0s, and die immediately. The Deathgreeters' abilities all trigger, allowing you to deal 32 damage to target player.

I kinda like this variant better, though. It's more fun and it can kill multiple players at once, even though it takes a little longer.

Thank you so much for taking infect away from just Black/Green. I couldn't agree more that infect with instant speed buff is SO old. I've been experimenting with some non-typical infect, but I haven't had near this much success. I may have to borrow some from this.

Anyways, I think it would be kinda cool to find a way to make True Conviction work in this deck. I know it's mana-intensive, but Infect with double-strike? Damn. And anyways, I think there's a pretty good chance you could ramp into it by turn 4. I know it's probably too slow for this deck; I'm just throwing around ideas. I've always wanted to make True Conviction work with infect.

It's like ElfBall meets Protian-Flash. I like it.

I agree. It's a great combo, but It has a ton of vulnerabilities. I think there's a pretty good chance it won't go off on turn four anyways, so running inkmoth nexus as a backup to the chalice is a good idea. It takes one more turn, but it can't be countered, isn't hit by sorcery speed, and almost doubles your chance of getting the combo going on turn five. Also, it's probably a good idea to run an extra blightsteel, in case something like FenwayHotspur described happens to your first one, or if you draw it before the combo goes off.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, but I checked. Shape Anew reads "the controller of TARGET artifact sacrifices it." So the chalice would be a target, not a cost, which means destroying it would make the spell fizzle.

awesome deck, but why 61 cards? since the only actual mana you need is black, it seems you could easily take out one of the other lands.

You could do with less of the effect-less wurms and add some of the Scars wurms. like Bellowing Tangleworm.

I dunno, I think 2 life is worth being able to discard a creature (why I chose thoughtseize). Liliana's Caress and Megrim are exactly the same except liliana costs 1 less, and I thought corrupt might be a good way to finish someone off quickly; I could always grab it with liliana's tutor, and if Urbog was out... but yeah, I'm thinking about dropping it.
Thanks for the advice, though. I'd never actually heard of duress and mind shatter, and I'm thinking about making this standard legal so I might use them.
