Why run discard without Liliana's Caress?

Simple, it's not standard. Though if I do make a deck like this for casual play, Liliana's Caress will be in it. It's a great card for this type of deck.
My mistake, didn't notice it was standard ><
Smallpox, Appetite for Brains, Wit's End, etc. Might need a strong finisher like exsanguinate or sorin's vengeance.
Wit's End is a bad card, period. Smallpox might not be a bad idea, though,and Appetite for Braid is a good sideboard card.

By the time that Shrine of Limitless Power goes off your opponent shouldn't have a lot of cards. Might want to consider Black Cat who can also serve as a blocker before going off. Another good discard in standard is Scroll of Griselbrand that can serve as an instant.

Might want a bit more direct kill. The Shrines become useless pretty quick, so... -1x Shrine and 1xPainful Quandary, +2x Go For The Throat? Sideboard Surgical Extraction for that extra slap in the face. :D

You know, I am not a huge fan of mono decks but I like this. Discard can be really nasty to play against. You have a pretty good standard showing for it here. :). How about sign in blood? Good for restocking your own hand, or giving them the last little push.

I like this. How does the Specter work for you? I have been debating putting that into a similar deck that I run. I do like this though. Check mine out if you want. I made it B/W. Won FNM this past week with it. I would probably only suggest adding bloodgift demon. He is terrific for draw engine and he is on the body of a 5/4 flyer.
