Why is punishing fire so good?

Burnwillows allows you to bring back Punishing Fire repeatedly ... Arid Mesa is just to thin out the deck

And if that wasn't enough (which it was), Grove of the Burnwillows is one of the most beautiful cards ever!

Dragonlord and Fanatic? Not good enough for Legacy. Instead of Dragonlord, Figure of Destiny is just better. And lack of the best burn spell in Legacy (Price of Progress) seems bad.

Why is Figure of Destiny better? I love him and use him in my Kithkin deck, but to reach a nice size, you either have to have three lands or six lands out simultaneously. With the Dragonlord, you can pay as much as you want at a time -- so it'd be perfectly feasible to get him to 8/8 flying, trample with only four lands out over two turns if you so choose.

Figure becomes the same size, but with first strike instead of trample. But he's a one drop, and can turn into it at instant speed.
