Deck Description

Ok, so this is my Dimir Guild deck that i have put together. Yes all of these cards I do have and are sitting in my deck right now. I got pretty lucky at the Pre-release. So any thoughts on what could make this better are welcome as is any other advice. Have to say i love the Cipher mechanic.. While i may think it is slightly broken, damn is it nice. lol.
Any comments and Likes are much appriciated. I plan on trying this out at this weeks FNM.

How to Play

Ok so it is pretty simple, 16 of the 19 creatures in this deck are "Unblockable" with 4 of them being Hexproof. You simply get them out and cast a spell with the dimir mechanic "cipher" and encode it onto one of the unblockable critters. Espeszially Paranoid Delusions. Once you swing a few times and mill them, cast Consuming Aberration, and equip Illusionist's Bracers on it. So when you cast any spell you end up milling your opponant TWICE.... Rogue's Passage is there for you to swing with BEEFED UP Consuming Aberration to finish your opponant off as an unblockable.

Deck discussion for Rise of the Dimir

sorry to say but the illusionist bracers wouldn't work the way you think they would. consuming aberration is a trigger effect not an ability .

Ok thanks for clearing that up for me. Wasnt 100% sure. But its a great card anyways, think i am pretty sure i can find a use for it. lol
Yeah am hoping Dragon's Maze will bring in some nice Dimir cipher cards. Their high mana cost is why I went with the lower casting cost creatures like tormented soul, invisible stalker, latch seeker & deathcult rogue. Besides the awesomeness of them being unblockable. Which works perfectly with cipher.

Also kinda worried about gruul & boros decks and their direct damage abilities. So am thinking of adding in some stab wounds and murders, maybe ultimate price. Using them for creature removal. Since none of my critters are likely to be "blocked" by oppoants creatures.

Was even thinking of some contaminated grounds for good messure, then was thinking in extended or modern adding 2 mindcranks to my sideboard. lol

I know i know to much thinking. At least I didnt add in a splash of white and Rootborn defenses to protect against that damned Supreme Verdict lol. I swear last time I played at FNM I played 3 diffrent people. Each one hit me with that damned card at least once. So i went through my 5 most played decks and adjusted to splash in white so i could try to protect against it.

I am thinking that if i can get enough on the field quick enough then i can do enough damage to my opponent with unblockable critters and cipher cards.

Wow, pretty lucky indeed.

Anyways, in the deck, yeah the muchopig is right the Bracers only affect activated abilities, not triggered. CA's is triggered.

If you want to keep the bracers, i suggest either Duskmantle Guildmage or Undercity Informer or both. They have activated abilities that hurt when doubled.

This is my Dimir Mill deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/nickbooth/decks/dimir-machinations/. Take a look for ideas and i would appreciate suggestions.

Cipher is an amazing mechanic yet i feel it got hosed in Gatecrash. The spells are just too expensive. Paranoid Delusions and Hands of Binding are the best simply because they are the cheapest. I hope they print some epic Ciphers in Dragon's Maze.
