Deck Description

this decks theme is well obviously cats and catlike cards. its a concept deck for a game with some freinds where we are each playing a different animal type. its going to be white/green with lots of equipment for kemba and leonine. this is only my second deck ever so any and all advice would be great on how to make this deck better without lossing its concept also i know its a little low on land what are some good ways to get more/better land into it

Deck discussion for Big Cats!!

TO MANY CARDS!!! You will never have consistent draws with twenty more cards than you need. Even one card above sixty can be very detractive. What you should cut: Kemba's Legion, Felidar Sovereign (I doubt you'll ever get to forty), Basilisk Collar, Swiftfoot Boots, Sword of Vengeance, Whispersilk Cloak, Parallel Lives (the probability of landing that with a Zenith is very low), Mirri, Cat Warrior (you need less three-drops), Qasali Ambusher (you'll scarcely need it), Roar of the Kah (it's not too amazing), Ajani's Mantra (no Felidar, no Mantra) and Overgrowth (it'll get you into a mana-screw because of all of the white mana you need). That should make it sixty, and you won't have to worry about adding any land. Also, ramp would be very useful here, because you have those legendary cats that cost alot, but are crucial to the deck. Find some cards to cut so that you can include things like Rampant Growth.

Thanks you the advice i cut the cards you said and added three Rampant growths i do have two issues (more like questions) with your comments first- "Felidar Sovereign (I doubt you'll ever get to forty)" if you look at how it was lots of the equips had lifelink or the creatures i had have life link add in things like double strike from raksha and the fact that i play pretty much only larger group free for alls with my friends it is quite possible for me to get 40 but i did agree with the cut because this deck is much more about tokens and beatdown then lifegain
secondly-Parallel Lives (the probability of landing that with a Zenith is very low), the reason i had added it was that this also works on the tokens created by Kemba, Nacatl war-pride and Jedit if you take that into account i think it is still benifitial to have a single parrale lives in the deck but then again you are more experienced could you explain more in depth why i needed to cut it?

Keep in mind that this is all my opinion, so keep what you want. Now you need to cut four cards, so that you can bring it down to sixty and have the best possible draw consistency. I would cut the Leonin Scimitars and 1x Pride Guardain OR 1x Leonin Elder. With these cuts, you mana curve will be in good shape and you consistency will be much better than before.

That was my fault in saying you didn't need Parallel Lives, because I was kind of rushing and was only thinking of Zenith and Ajani as the only sources of token generation.

lol its no problem and honestly most of your cuts made perfectly good sense since for example sword of vengence for its cost in this deck isnt good it might be in an equip deck with stoneforge mystic but not here those were the only two points my and your opinions diverged and i was thinking of cutting one of the pride gaurdians earlier but was like well maybe it would be good to keep him incase i get mana screwed for a few turns or something...but since your of similar mind about cutting it i think i will

as for the leonine scimitars i was thinking i could cut two of them cause i wanted one to be a quick and cheap equip incase i got sunspear out really early. so in the end that will give me a 61 card deck which shouldnt be to bad for draw consistancy

friend 3 is playing a green wolf/bear deck- we let him do this cuase there arnt alot of powerful wolfs or bears unless you count werewolfs
friend 4 is playing elephants-loxodons i think
and finally friend 5 is playing boars
of them i think the rhino and loxodons are going to be the biggest threat but who knows maybe one of the other decks like the old school gorilla will darkhorse it...
