Deck Description

This deck feels unfinished, suggestions and criticism will be apprecited.

How to Play

The point of this deck is to spawn lots and lots of zombies with Undead Alchemist. If you get bored with his milling ability you can just Murder him or block some stronger creature. To fuel it's spawning ability use Trepanation Blade and Increasing Confusion. Trepanation Blade can be used with almost everything, but I suggest you to equip it to creature you don't mind to loose, like one of your hundreds of Zombie tokens for example. Fuel Increasing confusion with swamps upgraded with Crypt Ghast ability. And in case you somehow dont have enough zombies already there's endless ranks of the dead. It can be ditched though, because it's not as useful as it looks. Negate is just in case opponent tries to destroy our masteplan or to destroy his or hers. This deck is terrible against fast, aggro decks, but hopefully Killing Wave will deal with this problem. Fog Bank is pretty much all defense against creatures you'll need, and it's great against exalted decks. Grimoire can be ditched too but I like the idea of ultimate Zombie Apocalypse. As I said in the description, this deck feels unfinished and it could really use some suggestions and testing.

Deck discussion for Zombie Apocalypse

Instead of Increasing Confusion, I would suggest Glimpse the Unthinkable.
Instead of Trepanation Blade, Sword of Body and Mind
Maybe a Lich Lord of Unx. Four of them could make your deck deadlier.
And (perhaps in your sideboard) : Zombie Apocalypse
Unbreathing Horde is also a good card

Check out my deck Zombies eat cards : it's also a Zombie Mill deck that could give you some ideas

I'm trying to play standard with this deck so I can't put Glimpse of the Unthinkable and Lich Lord of Unx in it, they're great and I'll probably get them when I'll play some casual games, or in extended. Sword of Body and Mind would be rally awesome here but it's REALLY expensive where I live and I don't have it in my collection, so I must settle for the cheaper Trepanation Blade. Zombie Apocalypse could be usefull since Alchemists are removal magnets, so sooner or later I may need to get them out of my graveyard. It's expensive but that's what Crypt Ghasts are for. I'll definatelly think about it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I know you are mostly basing around zombies but have you thought about a few Consuming Aberration in your deck would become a very large creature quick plus has an added nice milling ability.

I had three of them in alpha state of this deck, I tought I'd love them but it turn out I almost never fielded them. And once they were on the battlefield they were almost instantly took down with removal. Thanks for the suggestion though.

i believe your deck is weak in the first 6-7-8 rounds or maybe more..the thing is you dont have an extra way to get mana sou you are bound to one land per turn if you draw them at best..so the best case senario goes like : you put one creature or artifact or card in general each turn from the 4th and above
after that...exept your walls every other card plays with a combo so you cannot defend with the creatures you enter cuz you need them till you get the combos..now if you choose to destroy something you can't summon and vise versa...i hope you can see my point!!!
i think you must put a sucrificial piecies in your deck for defence and a way to get more mana in the begining cuz Crypt Gast need at least 4 turns and after that he stays put cuz if he dies you lose the passive...i cant suggest something cuz i dont know what goes with Standard!!!sorry!!

I think it's difficult to make a very powerful milling deck in standard because you can't have big milling cards such as nemesis of reason or glimpse the unthinkable. Increasing Confusion is awfully cmc expensive compared to them.
The thing is you don't have many zombies on the field until the alchemist comes i.e turn 4, so you'll have to survive with fog bank until you can play it. Then you'll have to attack with it without it being blocked (cause 2 toughness on turn 4 is hard to save when blocked, that's why I put Ghostforms in my deck Force of Graft to save my Force of Savagery). So the arriving of Zombies is a bit slow...
That's why I would suggest a Hedron Crab (but only if you play extended) or you could put the bloody tomes in your deck to have a zombie per turn from t3 on. But apart from that I don't really know what to suggest sorry.

Yeah, the slowness of this deck is it's biggest problem. I compelitely agree with Jujulatorture that it is impossible to make good milling deck in standard. Especially when I compare it to the milling decks back in the days when I started to play Magic. But I still want to try though, especially when I see only Boros around. Still, maybe someone can help me find the way around it's slowness. I tought about pulling Diregraf Ghouls form side to main cause from my experience they can be a real pain to deal with in the beggining and with some luck I can field them in the first turns. This, plus one Diregraf Captain on t3 makes some 3/3 creatures in the very beggining to rush the opponent and in the worst case scenario to shield the more important stuff. I still haven't tested this deck but I'll get to it as soon as I can.

Lich Lord of Unx will create more zombies and both kill and mill your opponent. Also, remove Killing Wave. In a creature based deck you really don't want to be doing mass destruction. If you want more ideas for the mill side of this deck, look here http://www.mtgvault.com/soulofmirrodin/decks/zombie-mill/
