Deck Description

Mono black...except for birthing pod. Best combo originates from birthing pod and geralf's messenger. Pod a messenger into skinrender for removal or solemn simulacrum for a mana fix/draw. Since Geralf comes back into play after first sacrifice you can get double usage out of him. Similarly to messenger, mikaeus has amazing synergy with birthing pod, not to mention he is just a strait up killer on his own.

Bloodgift demon is a nice 5 drop and gets some much needed draw capability, reaper from the abyss is a strait up crusher with all the sacrifice from birthingpod going around. Massacre wurm is a good board wipe should I need to pod/tutor into him.

Thought on the side board. If they are control, side in a bunch of smaller aggro. If they are ramp, throw in the extra removal. Unfortunately the only real responses to double spirit captains is black sun's zenith, so in that matchup you need to 4 of them.

I would love to hear some feedback about this deck. Too slow? Not enough big hitter? Mana curve? Metagame thoughts? Thanks

Deck discussion for PTQ Standard: Crazy Undying birthingpod

Light on the artifact destruction, but I don't think many people are going temp steel these days, and there really aren't too many "this artifact will crush you" in standard at the moment.

You can also use Corrosive Gale for spirit removal. Its cheap and very effective with the proper amount of mana dropped into it, plus it doesn't kill your creatures
