Liliana's Zombies Horde

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

First I must give credit to where I got the idea for this deck, I played against " Asefthuk" who used a deck similar to this in MTGO.

Ideal hand contains either:
Jace's Archivist + Liliana's Caress
OR
Jace's Archivist + Zombie Infestation

Basically you need the archivist out and active ASAP, he is the linchpin, which is why I run the swiftfoot boots to protect him if necessary.

There are 2 main wincons for this deck:
1.) Using Archivist and Liliana's Caress, once the archivist is active you wait until their draw step when they have one extra card in had than force a complete discard allowing liliana's to hit for large amounts of damage, sometimes allowing for a instant kill if you have multiple caresses/archivists and their hand isnt empty.

2.) Using Archivist and Zombie infestation in a similar manner, waiting till their hand is as full as can be but first you discard your entire hand to produce mass zombies then refill it instantly, which can in turn produce more zombies. This also allows for surprise removal by discarding the Pharaoh after the opponent has already attacked.

The ideal wincon however is a combination of both these techniques allowing for a large hit from Caress followed up by a swarm of zombies to finish off the opponent.

Worse comes to worse you still have the Cemetery Reaper and Grave Titan to try to just beat your way through the opponent.

This has rapidly become one of my new favourite decks due to the uniqueness of it, so any suggestions to improve it, while still keeping these wincons is greatly appreciated.

As for the sideboard that is still a work in progress.

-2 Elixir of Immortality; Add 2x Maze of Ith

you really only need one Elixir as it gets shuffled back in your deck. With the deck stacking power I recommend getting it would be easy, and Liliana is a draw engine, you get what ever card you want with her.

With my recommendations you should be able to get your win conditions out quicker and more consistently and have the defensive abilities to give you time enough to do so.

The reasoning for my recommendations:
1) you do not need as many creatures or as big of creatures as you will be gaining free zombies, and should be winning before the big creatures are needed.
2) you need more ways to keep creatures from attacking you or your plainswalkers.
3) you need to obtain your win condition faster and more consistently.

I appreciate all the ideas, I should mention I would like to keep it standard (or at least until rotation, hopefully they reprint Megrim or Caress).

I will give it a go without the Zend fetches, I just dont want to end up slowing it down too much. I agree about the Elixir, I will probably kick it down, same goes for the grave titans, I hardly use them.

This is leaving me with 3 open spots. Not really sure what I should fill them with.

I am thinking perhaps adding some black control such as Inquisition or Distress? Something to aid in control of their plays?

Jace's archivist with a caress, a megrim, or a bloodchief ascension out, from personal experience, kills very quickly. If you can add something to get hand total high, and then hit it, you can do 40-50 damage a turn. In multi, that's to each player, too.
I've got a deck like this, and I'm glad you're on the upcoming list. The archivist is awesome.

Hey i LOVE liliana's caress, i made a deck based around it a while back that seems to be almost like this one, but more sorceries based instead of creature based. Have a look-see and tell me what you think.

If Liliana's Caress is part of your win-con, why not run 4 instead of 3?

That's kind of like running 4 grave titans, 4 frost titans and 4 wurmcoil engines in a U/B control deck.

i like the deck and im wondering have you considered making it standard or would that just mess up the deck from no liliana's caress

as for sideboard you may want some counters if they have lots of control spells

Have you considered adding a Heartless Summoning or two to the mix? It helps to get Grave Titans(and all creatures) out a little quicker, and works quite well with Skinrender. Also, if you have a Cemetery Reaper out your tokens and such are still 3/3's.

Check out my zombie deck, it's Green/Black : http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=247446

Question: Does a token creature going into the grave yard, count as a creature in the graveyard. Or do they just vanish when they die? So can I summon a token creature from the graveyard?

It triggers cards that have "when a creature is put into the grave yard, but then it just disappears or ceases to exist, so no you cannot summon it from the grave yard
