Deck Description

After reviewing several failures' attempts at making a working extraction deck, I decided it was time to make my own...one which will work.

Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank = Total annihilation. Once Bloodchief Ascension is full and you have a Mindcrank all it takes is one discard and that opponent is dead.

P.S. If you got something to write to improve this deck, please add a comment, otherwise go talk about your childhood somewhere else. Thanks.

*Update 6/8/12* After play testing I found the combo to be unbelieveable; don;t know how one or both cards are not illegal. Now I took the liberty of unloading the Looter/Broke, and added Countersquall/Hideous End for the required 2 damage to fill Bloodchief. Finall added Darkness to provide cover against huge attacks. Added Killing Wave and removed Sadistic Sacrament

Unfortunately Extirpate, Sadistic and Extract don't put things in the graveyard, but removes them from the game which means Ascension doesn't do anything for them to be honest. Of course the ability to remove parts of their deck is great, but they don't work in the Ascension combo. There are a lot of other cards possible that removes cards from hand which might be of use... like Jace's Archivist perhaps (3 cost).

Not to worry my friend, that's just a stall tactic. I use extract and creature killers to have time to fill Bloodchief. Once Bloodchief Acsension and Mincrank are out it's game over...can you say Lore Broker!!!!

It's painfully obvious that both of you boosted your decks up, so enjoy them while they're still up.

Any different than you and your friends having a pointless conversation to get your decks on the front? Nope.

honestly i dont see whyu you guys compete so much to get on the front page its not that big of a deal. the only thing i care about is getting feedback on my deck and suggestions. Of course I wish more people would look at my decks and give feedback but Im not about to try to cheat the system to get my decks on the front page.

Well actually, yes, it is different. For one, having a conversation among friends is much different than having one with yourself, and then deleting all those comments. Plus, people would have to be originally interested in my deck to start up a conversation. But if being up on the front page is really that big of a deal to you, then by all means.

That's interesting considering you don't add anything to the conversation, but hahah, happy to help, how's the weather, blah blah blah.

I certainly don't need your advice if all you are going to contribute is a hint of jealousy with a dash of envy. Even better, everytime you see my name don't bother writing which, in case you didn't know, contributes to the overall likes.

Guys, guys, calm down! ;)

I've had the week off to work on v3 this week, there's still a long way to go but it's getting there. Once it goes live we won't have to worry about such issues anymore!

That was kinda the joke, not a lot of extraction. IMO it doesn't work as a win condition, only support.

You know, I don't see the problem with deck boosting. No one pays attention to anything but the top deck lists anyway and those are usually dominated by those who have been here longer. Deck boosting allows constructive criticism for deck by people that don't get comments or anything.

I mean, in certain cases (Where it's a joke deck) it's not exactly a good idea, but I think that this is perfectly fine in this case because the person actually wants to get criticism for this deck.

My biggest concern with this deck is the mana base. You really should be using mana fixers. Underground Sea, Polluted Delta, and other various lands that tap for a blue or a black or search for something of the type.

You are correct sir on both accounts. In the actual deck I have Darkslick Shores and Tainted Islands; just didn't bother listing them here.

The few times I hit front page I didn't really care all that much, generally it just made me upset a the way the site worked actually. When I put a deck on here it's to lay down the basic shape, sometimes to show some friends a starting point so they can work on an archetype, and on a very few occasions get feedback actually.

Front page is more or less something that just happens, I'd prefer it be from honest feedback and compliments or whatnot, but conversations are fine with me. I prefer to stay away from the front page personally, since I seem to run into the people trying my builds on MWS when I hit it... Mirror matches are almost always boring.

Now I wish to leave feedback, but first I need to know the format, so I can know what you're working with.

I mainly run legacy, but will try to stay within the new mordern format.

Hope you dont run into Leyline of sanctity. Or any vintage deck for that matter. I guess it could work against standard deck, maybe. How do you manage to get your 3 counters on that bloodchief is beyond me though. No sign in blood or similar spells to get your 2 damage done ?

Blistergrub and Blind Zealot are the main threats, however you only need to score 2 damage in three rounds. Not a mighty feat even with the limited creatures on hand. It's not perfect and will lose to anything that runs burn or discard. If I truely wanted this deck to be all around competitive it would be mono black with a discard function to set off Mindcrank/Bloodchief.

I have a deck based around Bloodchief Acension and Mindcrank.

But my deck is VERY different from this, literally every single creature can be sac'd to give 2 damage to the face, the fatties like Magma Phoenix do it without targetting. I include lots of global burn like Earthquake, Sizzle and Flame Rift too.
I use global spells to get around effects like the Leyline of Sanctity.

Considering you're not running Red, you really should be running Syphon Soul.
And with blue, you have access to unblockable creatures or spells.
My fave is Shadow Rift. Whilst Shadow isn't unblockable per se, no one plays shadow creatures, and you get a cantrip.
Unblockable is Waaaaaaaaaaayy better than Intimidate or Fear, as many people play black.

Include some tutor, like Demonic Consultation (cos they're cheap) to find those Bloodchief Ascenion's, or some transmute cards to get your combo pieces.
Maybe even include some more card draw in there like Rhystic Study or Mystic Remora.
