Looks like he's relying on Garruk to untap those Vivid lands when he plays them, good idea, except that most players kill him as soon as he hits the board.
I haven't encountered many players that kill planeswalkers. They are hard to kill in the first place and usually don't pose a direct thread. Besides you don't toss your planeswalkers into the fray, you play them when your opponent is too busy staying alive to even care about the planeswalker.
In my opinion, Planeswalkers are in general too threatening to be played. While they all are very good, most people tend to overreact when they hit the field and either gang up on the person who played the plainswalker or do whatever possible to remove it from the board. It actually is reasonably easy to remove Plainswalkers, Oblivion Ring and Rootgrapple work quite nicely here. Check out my treefolk deck for a deck that actually is quite fast.
