Deck Description

Create tokens + Purphoros/Impact Tremors and create pain.

If you have 6 tokens when casting Battle Hymn, and can generate 6 mana—you'll have an infinite combo when targeting the Hymn. (Hymn generating at least 6 mana, then Buyback on the Reiterate). You will need at least SEVEN creatures to start MAKING more mana.

With Young Pyro out with Impact/Purph, that's infinite damage, or simply infinite tokens without them. If you don't have Young Pyro out, you can Banefire the opponent, or use Purph to make your creatures outrageously strong, and attack.

You can also Grapeshot your opponent to death.

Deck discussion for Hymn [Modern]

Small problem with Reiterate here, you need 6 mana to pay for it with its Buyback, which Hymn does give, but that means the Hymn already resolved, so it's no longer on the stack for Reiterate to copy (it'll be in the graveyard). The only way to remedy this is to cast a second Hymn, then Reiterate, but that requires 8 mana, 2 for the second Hymn, and 6 for Reiterate.

I tried to do a similar combo with Izzet Guildmage copying Lava Spike after I spliced Desperate Ritual onto it. To combo off, I needed the Guildmage to be on the battlefield already, then generate 6 mana. 1 for Lava Spike; 2 to Splice Desperate Ritual onto it, and 3 to copy it will the Guildmage while Lava Spike was on the stack.

Maybe I'm confused... wouldn't it just be 1R for Hymn, then the 4RR for Buyback'ed Reiterate? Then as long as you have 6 creatures, you're at infinite. Right? Then if you have any additional creatures, you're gaining mana.

I know 8 mana is a lot, but that's why you have all of those tokens lol.

The amount of mana isn't the problem, obviously. The problem comes from where the Hymn is when you cast Reiterate. If it's not on the stack, Reiterate can't cope it.

Like I said—Reiterate definitely has to have the hard mana (or Spirit Guide to help) to get that first copy. From there, you can go wild as long as you have 6+ creatures.
