Deck Description

A new concept I've seen for planes walkers. Loyalty is treated as loyalty counters. so you could easily double them with Gilder Bairn, so you can activate your big game altering effects quicker and catch your opponent with his pants down as it were. the Kraken Hatchling Tidehallow Strix, Wasp Lancer, and Hedron Crab are primarily for cannon fodder to stop aggro decks from killing it before you can mill them with Jace. I threw Liliana in there just in case your impatient and you want to kill them with their creature milled by Jace to kill them. This deck is primarily for low budget deck builders but please comment and enjoy

I had been wondering whether or not that worked! Thanks so much for answering my question. Very nice deck as well.

with the exception of Bolas all planeswalkers are 1 or 2 colors. some already have green of blue but for those who don't it shouldn't be that hard to incorporate green or blue into your planeswalker powered decks for Gilder Bairn to boost them. any planeswalker with the exception of jace, combined with this combo will be able to activate their large abilities the next turn after they're played provided you activate their add abilities once before you use gilder Bairn. Yes Jace will still be able to activate but he will loose all of his loyalty unless you use Gilder Bairn's ability twice.

I'm sorry Nissa is the only one this won't work on in one shot but it should still work after a 2nd try

doubling season could work but with some one like say Elspeth, if she activated one of her abilities the turn she was played she would only have a total of 6 loyalty whereas if you activate one ability they use gilder Bairn her loyalty would total 10 so you could use her best ability the turn after she was played

one more thing then i'll quit commenting on my own deck, doubling season is more expensive to play but gilder Bairn can be played earlier

doubling season works just fine in this deck, it's ment to be for aggro, and it is very reliable, sure, red deck wins takes it out with magus of the moon, but still, this deck is deadly.

I think you misunderstand what happens with doubling season and planewalkers. When a planeswalker comes into play with doubling season, it gets double loyalty counters. After that, the doubling season has no effect. Though to combine the two...

i completely understand what doubling season does, it's just a matter of preference and budget, i've got 4 gilder Bairns but not $60 to go buy 4 doubling seasons, or know anyone that would trade any, plus doubling season works as you put counters on them gilder bairn puts more on becasue it doubles the amount already on it not just when it's placed on

(Ex.1) Jace+activating one ability+doubling season = 7 loyalty

(Ex. 2)Jace+activating one ability+gilder Bairn = 10 loyalty

if you have doubling season out before planes walkers, putting they into play does not mean they come into play with double their loyalty, when summoning them no effect says to put the loyalty on them they already come into play with that many,

sorry to have such long winded comments

thats a good deck but the problem is geting gilder brain taped without killing it in an attack ive found the best way to do this is with Topan Ascetic its a 3 drop green that will get stronger if you tap a creature and its free to do so as long as you have 3 to use gilders effect then your set!

sorin markov is a great planeswalker for this combo, your opponent only gets one more turn after its played then you control the rest

activation grounds so that you can use Gilder Bairn's ability for 1 mana, and then Paradise Mantle equipped to Gilder Bairn. What this does is it lets you tap Gilder Bairn for 1 mana of any color, then you untap guilder bairn and because of activation grounds it only needs one mana, either blue or green. Then you can retap it for 1 mana, and untap it AGAIN to double a planeswalker's loyalty counters. Really, this combo is infinite counters on anything.

with this combo you can summon a planeswalker, use gilderbairn only, and use a planeswalker's ultimate as it enters the battlefield.

This isn't new and you're doing it wrong. Throw in Training Grounds and Paradise Mantle (or Utopia Vow if you care to splash greeen) and you can have infinite counters on anything.
