Deck Description

I'm a new magic player. This is just a simple evolve/graft deck.

An ideal scenario would be:

1) Forest, Simic Initiate,
2) Island, Gyre Sage, graft Initiate->Gyre.
3) Hinterland Harbor, Vigean Hydropon, evolve Gyre, tap Gyre for 2 Forest, Bioshift Hydropon->Gyre, cast Burst of Strength on Gyre, tap Gyre for 8 forest, Primordial Hydra 6/6.
4) tap Gyre for 8 Forest, Prime Speaker Zegana 12/12, draw 13 cards, evolve Gyre, cast Burst of Strength on Gyre, cast two Evolution Charms on Gyre and Hydra and attack for 22 flying damage, Reliquary Tower.
5) Omniscience.

Deck discussion for primordial evolution

Standard is any current block, the previous block and the current core set. So the current standard format is Return to Ravnica, Gatecrash, Innistrad, Dark ascension, Avacyn restrored and M13. You have in your deck Evolution charm, Vigean Hydropon and Simic Initiatve which are all illegal in Standard format, as they aren't from any of the current sets.

Replace those cards with Shambleshark, Cloudfin raptor and experiment one. Play on the new evolve mechanic.

I'm rather a fan of this deck. Depending on whom you want to play against, it might be okay for it not to be legal in standard. My friends and I who play don't heed official legality so much as we have our own list of cards that are not allowed which is mostly based on the group itself. For instance, we have deemed Infect illegal as a whole, even though non-infect cards from the same block are okay.

That said, if you want to play in tournaments or in groups that use official legality, Benny made an excellent suggestion. The only other suggestion I'd add is this: If a card is part of your ideal scenario, I'd probably start with it in my deck rather than have to sideboard it in. Maybe that would even mean having only one Primordial Hydra and one Omniscience in and deciding whether to sideboard in the others each time, but if Hydra or Omniscience either one is part of your win condition, I'd definitely count them among my main deck.

Thanks Goblin King; I appreciate the feedback. Admittedly, the Primordial Hydra and Omniscience were an after-thought. I didn't even have a sideboard until shortly before posting it here. I do think I can fit a couple Hydras and one Omniscience into the main deck without causing too many problems.
