Deck Description

I had decided to make a deck revolving around a few of the ping mages, and I came up with this. It had a few different things in it at first, but this seems to be the most stable inclusion of cards yet.

Opportunities to draw cards and deal damage abound. It's also beneficial that most of the cards in this deck, except for Niv and Valakut can be had for fairly cheap and even those two aren't that expensive.

How to Play

Pretty much want to get down a couple lands quickly, and start casting mages to 'ping' your opponents accordingly for 1 and 2 damage where applicable.

Lightning Bolts for extra damage and for creature elimination, as well as Goblin Dynamo for a repeating X damage capability as well as ping. Browbeat can't go wrong. Cards can also be obtained with Pyrite Spellbomb, Portent, and Ponder. A couple of these were also selected for their ability to provide more than one feature.

Valakut will drop additional damage nicely as well as Noggle when Mountains are played, and the Razortip Whip is a cheap and quick damage alternative to something like Rod of Ruin, but I opted for cost. Disintegrate and Annihilating Fire are sideboarded for convenience, or even a couple other red damage spells or other blue controllers as desired.

Niv was a main of this deck for a while, but he has been reduced and sideboarded in favor of Embermage Goblin, and the deck works better for it.

Traveler's Amulets and Izzet Boilerworks have been added to balance land and mana issues.

Deck discussion for It's not a Ping deck, Izzet?

here is my recomendation, tandem lookout for card draw, gelectrode for an awesome pinger you don't have, and freed from the real for shenanigans. that is all. Very nice theme deck i love pingers. Also tandem lookout combos with nivmizzet.

Tandem Lookout is nice. I will give him a try. I've also taken out a couple of the lands, and the Noggle and the Brimstone Mage and added Izzet Boilerworks and that seems to be working pretty well.
