Deck Description

WOW! thank you all for liking this deck I made. it is the first deck of mine to make the list of hot decks. but dont stop there see what other decks i have, all advice is appreciated! thanks! :D
second version of the one drop mana challenge. hope you enjoy it, please any ideas or criticism is appreciated.

How to Play

all i can really say is gain life in the future, meaning if you have a soul warden and a cathedral sanctifier play soul warden first then sanctifier making you gain 4 life turn two. I think its pretty much common sense but im just saying how I'd do things.

Deck discussion for The one drop challenge 2(W)

Like it. Serra Ascendant could do some damage with all of the life ramp. Definitely a good start deck. Would try to make it more well rounded...but besides that, looks like it might be fun to play.

well rounded, what do you mean?

I mean...it is a very, very good deck at gaining life very fast. It has great synergy.

But.. There are no cards that kill Artifacts or Enchantments. That alone could wreck you. There are no cards that hurt your opponents creatures. If your opponent is coming at you with a 10/10 creature....you have no answers so it.

Add in Dispeller's Capsule. With all of your cards costing 1 mana, trust me, you will have the extra 3 mana lying around. It will save your life. There are some extremely nasty Enchantments and Artifacts in Magic. Brutal cards.

And add in Spirit Link. Goodbye 10/10 creature that your opponent has.

Might would consider adding in Sunbeam Spellbomb too. It is extra drawing. And extra life gain.

Not trying to hammer your deck. Just...look at it like this, friend. Your opponent is playing red. In his opening hand he has Leyline of Punishment. There is NO WAY YOU CAN WIN. No way. He plays Leyline and game is over.

Or imagine your opponent is playing something like Ensnaring Bridge and keeps his hand empty by playing Discard or Red Burn. You can't attack. PERIOD.

dude both the cards you just quoted cost more than 1 mana

I can think of one card off the top of my head that would completely wreck this deck, Chalice of the void for 1 mana. Not many decks run that card and I dont really know why. Chalice hoses so many greedy tier one decks.

chalice of the void either costs 0 or 2 mana... Im not sure if it's legal in 1 drop challenge

You are assuming that your opponent is also playing a 1 mana deck...which is almost guaranteed he will not be.

Alaborn Zealot, Alaborn Zealot, Holy Day
Devout Harpist, Gaze of Justice, Gideon's Lawkeeper are good 1 man cards to

No, I'm saying if your opponent plays chalice putting "One" counter on it, it will completely wreck this deck.

Martyr of Sands Might be pretty good

0
Posted 19 May 2014 at 21:14

I would say it would be good on the 1st or 2nd turn...but what he is sorely lacking is draw power. With everything costing only 1 mana (as is the Challenge), he will be out of cards very early. And when he is out of cards, the Martyr of Sands will be useless.

Id play it as a 1 or 2 of to try and get that early boost. Just a little extra boost every few games.

Well presides you might run holy strength instead of edge of the divinity, making your deck more "mono white", if that makes any sense.

I see a couple Children of Korlis in this deck. Also is Alive//Well legal in your format since there's a 4 cost in the card? Festival of the Guildpact might help your deck and help you draw cards too.

1

the rule is you have to be able to play any card for 1 mana. considering i dont even run green and that it is a single card for an effect and cost of one white mana i think its fair game. but thanks for the festival idea i might side deck it.

Definitely need some kind of removal. As mentioned before, yeah you have the lifegain, but that won't save you from getting smacked repeatedly by a decent sized creature or repeat burn spells. Path to exile, condemn, swords to plowshare are all one drop white removal cards. As for the burn, the only thing I can really think of is mana tithe which will really only help you early on in this one drop challenge. Also, you could throw in emeria, sky ruin?

I have an old all one drop white deck. There's some newer cards that have a place; it could definitely use (and probably will receive) an update, but still check it out for ideas:

This is a cool and fun concept... maybe add Swords to Plowshares for added 1-drop removal of nasty creatures coming your way? Remove from game takes care of indestructible :)

swords to plowshares, erase?

Swords to Plowshares is one of the highest rated White cards in Magic (Ranked # 7 on Wizards Gatherer/Magic Search) for a reason.

Everyone is suggesting it...any ideas, everyone, what should be taken out?

Matyr of Sands or just make a soul sisters deck.

i know somebody said it already, but emeria, the sky ruin cant hurt. also i would recommend student of warfare. and for the sideboard, maybe in a game against someone who isn't playing a 1- drop deck, limited resources. it forces you to sacrifice down to five lands, if possible, and reduces the number of total lands to ten at the maximum. it wouldn't hurt you, but it would screw him/her over fairly quickly, especially if he/she is running a lot of large creatures and/or spells. possibly as one more spell, scouts warning. it gives your next spell flash and draws you a card. if you have over 30 life with serra ascendant in hand, that could be a very useful combat. then, just to reiterate what everyone else said, swords to plowshares its definitely needed.

1
Posted 20 May 2014 at 03:56

thank you so much all of what you said was very useful, i like student of warfare because i will run out of hand advantage quickly so i can just spend my mana on him. but who should i take out for him and how many? also limited resources...AMAZING...i already had scouts warning in there and decided to take it out think i should put it back in?

Hopeful Eidolon instead of Spirit Link

0
Posted 20 May 2014 at 21:00

Isn't Eidolon easier to kill? I mean...it counts as a creature too? So that is easier to kill versus Spirit Link. Plus...lots of people put Spirit Link on their opponent's creatures to negate the damage done.

I really like this kind of deck and I have a few hints for you: at first, play Marty of Sands 4x main. It makes the Ascendant 6/6 on turn 2. Also, if you play Ethereal Armor, why not Hopeful Eidolon over Trained Caracal? And at last: is it really a good idea to give your opponent life? I would test to play Path to Exile and Oppressive Rays instead of Condemn and Swords to Plawshares. And I'm not sure, but Launch the Fleet could be very funny with all this triggers. Anyway very nice deck.

I can tell you right now why swords its a better pick than path. Life can be freaky with fairly easy. Lands are much harder to get rid of. Essentially when you play path you are giving free mana ramp to your opponent. Which in some formats is fine. They need tons of lands to actually play stiff, and do you can afford to give then that. Or late have it is pointless to give then lands. Like after turn 15. But earthy on, in a deck where everything is 1 mana, playing path and giving them a land means that you just have then the ability to play another card a turn earlier.

Atrix...has I had pointed out to me...with Puschkin..Marty of Sands will be wasted on this deck..because everything is one drop...so by the time you can play Marty of Sands...it will be uselses.

Kazzong, is telling a true story about Swords.

You should add an Emeria the sky ruin, ZEN land that says as long as you have 7 plains you get to return a creature to the battlefield. Enters tapped. It would work well with your lands currently, also return some of those lifegain creatures, or the Ascendents. Anyways it is just an idea.

for moderm no sword but Path to exile and dobt put hyena umbra...but a better one you already got first strike with another equipment

1
Posted 23 April 2015 at 06:29

they have the hyena umbra in here to buff my ethereal armor because for each enchantment I control it gets +1/+1.

swords to plowshares is here because this deck can deal with life gain better than it can additional creatures. they probably don't want to give my opponent more land than they can already put out by themselves.

If they wanted to keep this modern... then sure. I personally would probably swap them since I normally like Path better.
