Deck Description

Modern Dredgevine with a red splash. i wanted to try out modern, and dredge has always been a favorite of mine in legacy. now with shaman banned, gy decks are a lot more viable in modern, so i made the switch cause i'm tired of playing with/against delver decks in legacy. wizards, please save that format! ***UPDATE***

cut a bunch of the slower, off-theme cards like BoP and rakdos charm for faster, more modern creatures. the curve is sooo brutal now.

How to Play

You really don't need any mana for this deck. cycle them, vengevines, dredgers, and demons into the gy and go to town. crawlers and bloodghasts are in there for synergy with fetches and lotleth troll, as well as casting to bring back vengevines. outside of gy hate, they can't do much to stop your gameplan, so the sideboard serves as anti-silverbullet cards like leyline of the void or rest in peace. if your opponent manages to land one early, it just means you have to play fair until you can get them to either crack their tormod's crypt or you can remove their enchant/artifact with your removal. dont dredge/discard blindly into gy hate as it will leave you without a gameplan. it runs just fine as an aggro deck and has enough removal to make it a quasi-midrange deck against decks like affinity.

Deck discussion for Jund Dredgevine

I love Vengevine decks! I run U/G Madness in Legacy, give it a try :D it's very similar to dredgevine. Anyway have you considered Pack Rat? It's not your strongest pick but it would be pretty nice in this deck.

pack rat is unecessary. it's value mainly comes out of abuse of the devotion mechanic, and i have cheaper discard options (READ: lotleth troll, faithless looting)

I considered going for Red when building my Dredgevine deck, but ultimatley went for Blue for Hedron Crab, Fatestitcher and Magus of the Bazaar.
How is red working out for you? I like Lightning Axe and Faithless Looting but couldn't justify them to myself. Might be useful for you to include a Dregscape Zombie or some such for when you want to "Go Off" but don't have the Lol Trolls or another Zombie to use Gravecrawlers ability.

i think the lightning axe just rocks against a creature heavy meta, it's always relevant and kills goyfs almost as well as abrupt decay. also it fills your gy with creats and discards unwanted lands.

faithless looting is just one of many great turn one games, and also it allows for an oppurtunity for MULTIPLE DREDGES that is hugely important imagine you play looting, dredge on the first draw, discard the same stinkweed imp, and flashback it for even more insane dredge. it's really one of the best cards in the deck.

i considered dregscape zombie, but it's too weak, i'd rather be unearthing extractor demons or hardcasting bloodghasts. i run enough zombies to turn crawler on, i like to save lotleth troll till late for that express purpose, because its probably the worst card to have in your gy besides BoP. also, if you land a troll, it's basically impossible to get rid of outside of path to exile/terminus.

I wouldn't run more than one Dregscape Zombie, I have a single Fatestitcher in my deck as an "Insurance Policy". Though seeing this deck has really tempted me to switch out for Red.

personally i love the red splash. speeds up your early game so well, and gives some sweet removal and card advantage engines.

I'm hoping this deck can still be a thing, now that Deathrite Sherman is banned. It intrigues me deeply.

i find it runs just well, you have so many other good one drop options besides shaman, and with the banning of shaman it allows you to play imp and extractor demon

I feel like you really need a sac outlet in a deck like this. It just feels weird that you don't have one. Maybe bloodthrone vampire in order to force blocks?

Dredge doesn't use Sac Outlets, it uses Dredge cards to put things straight from the deck into the Graveyard, and discard to put them from the hand to Graveyard, then bring them back with effects.

but what if they use exile removal? or you just want to kill something in order to get more value out of it. I undeerstand you don't need it, but playing without sac outlets with all these gravecrawlers and vengevines just feels wrong to me.

It's not about value here, it's about comboing out by bringing back 2 Gravecrawlers which then consequently brings back all the Vengevines you may have in your graveyard and killing them promptly with usually 12-16 power of hasty guys.

i considered adding cards like bloodthrone vamp, viscera seer, and blood artist, but that limited my options considering the zombie/discard/vengevine synergy between crawler and lotleth troll. also, vengevine just needs cards cast, so it is useful against control who look to counter my stuff. also, those vampire creatures are easy to deal with (one of this deck's strengths is that it is resistant to conventional removal) and are useless when in my gy, i want to maximize my gy abusability considering i dredge a lot.

I done this deck with splash of blue and white. it's a bit slow but quite hard.

I recommend you Gnaw to the bone, it's the best way to hold the game while u play all the slow dredge action.

GJ. if u want to see my 5 color dredge deck just reply this comment and i'll add to this web
