This deck has so far been in development for over 3 years now and this is the most recent iteration.Stax with colors makes it so we have access to some of the best effects for a lands/artifacts deck like life from the loam and tezzeret as well as some outs to our worst matchups (aggro) in supreme verdict and thopter/sword combo. I feel that unlike other versions of stax this one is highly interactive and as such is much more fun to play than my previous versions. This one is also I believe the strongest so far in a vacuum while retaining it's raw power against meta decks it now has outs to non-meta decks (which where our biggest problems before) now that we can swarm fliers, sac in response to price of progress, have 0 cards in hand while maintaining card advantage with cloister/bridge as well as we now have a toolbox essentially saying that we run 4 of every 1-of artifact in the deck because of tezzeret. The inclusion of a mainboard threat is to make sure we just dont belly-up against aggro decks.The only side effect to this is that our merfolk matchup is much worse, but our matchup against merfolk was so garabage to begin with we might as well cut our losses and try to salavage other matchups rather than try to solve the merfolk problem. The difference is if they go slow we now have an out with supreme verdict and if they decide to make our non blue producing lands islands we can cast tezzeret to find a bridge. The combo matchup is still free wins, as well as our control matchup is still abnormally strong especially against miracles.Our C.Thresh matchup is still chalice and win or no chalice and die but thats the nature of it.Our dredge matchup is actually slightly more favorable since we can mass swarm fliers and basically make it so their speed is rediculously important.
