Deck discussion for Mage Blade

if i wanted to make a deck similar to this but didn't have the snapcasters or geists what could i put in as a replacement? i know there is no actual replacment for them but i don't have the money to spend for those cards but i really like the idea of this deck. any suggestions?

Honestly I am not sure. I am thinking about maybe running this as a second deck that I will try and let my friends use. I dont know a ton about the deck yet but the threat is getting out a Geist as a threat. So you can do this also in a cheaper way with invis stalker. Being hex proof if you put a Pike on him he is gonna do some work. I do not see any options for snap caster replacements my best suggestion would to basically trade anything and everything you can/have to try and get some.

In summary if you can find a legit threat that is playable you can replace geist. Then trade your soul away for snap casters.

Mirran Crusader is the same CMC, and totally beats face. It's also /much/ cheaper than Geist. Nayaguy is right, though; There's no replacement for either Geist or Snapcaster(especially Snapcaster, you could probably get away with a similiar build running Mirran Crusader in Geists place).

a three cost threat creature and a soul exchange... i'll see what i can come up with although if i did get those snapcasters id be happier in so many ways, and have him in many of my other decks... *sigh*

Have you actually play tested this much? I'm running a Mageblade deck myself that I consistently win/place at FNMs with. I really don't like the idea of Thought Scour as a means of fueling the pike, I think there are much better options you can run in its place. Single Dismember, Faith's Shield or two, Revoke Existence/Divine Offering or two(yes, mainboard. The current meta is running rampant with swords, birthing pod decks, wolf run is using spheres, solemns, etc.)

Check out mine if you get the chance, I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially if you have FNM experience with this archetype.

I have not play tested this at all. I have been playing my BW tokens list.

i thought the Blade in Mageblade meant Snapcaster-Doom Blade.

Pretty sure it is from the swords/pikes. Not 100% sure on that because I didn't name the deck.
