Deck Description

this is a budget deck that spams tokens until you get enough anthems to really do some damage.

How to Play

Get your as many low costs down and swing every turn, and get as many of your chiefs out onto the field. Refuse to care about them attempting to block an army of low cost creatures with buffs on them swing with every thing except your chiefs every turn, don't swing with your chiefs, unless you're sure they'll survive, or you can bring them back. when some of your chiefs are out and you have one or two banners you'll be swinging with 3-4 4/3's or bigger every turn. this is meant to be a sort of improvement over the event deck, it's cheaper and is just better.

Deck discussion for Budget warriors

I like this idea, and most of the build, but I'm not sure this is a token deck though. It feels like it should be an aggressive beat down deck with tokens as support. I think that with your curve topping out at 5 (with only 2 Dictates of Heliod) you should -at most- need 24 land. I'm also not a fan of the Throne or the random Hall. The throne takes forever to actual get value from- after 2 turns of setting it up, someone just Hero's Downfall your guy. Why not instead run Warrior's Spoils? 3 of those will buff all your guys, and give you the option to get some much needed card draw in here. You'll gain back the life with a Rush of Battle, but this will keep your hand full with more threats. And I know that the Herald gives you warriors, but he gets no benefit from the Chiefs, and the tokens are just slow. And I also think there are better warriors than the Hordechief and Hordemate- Some other options would be Skullhunter for some disruption, the Saddlebrute survives almost all the spot removal in the format, the Hateblade is a good blocker and triggers raid very well, and Seeker of the Way is just good. You want to get a little tricky? Add a couple Return to the Ranks. Run a few Bile Blights\ Pharika's Cure\ or some manor of spot removal and I think you'll have more success- and still stay budget.

i put throne in here just because i think it's such a kickass card, but replacing it for raider's spoils is a good idea and i'll do that. the hall is in there just because i can't have multiple spear of heliods on the field and this deck has basically no removal other than spear so i run 3. replacing the herald with bigger dudes that benefit from the warrior buffs would really take away from just an army of little 1/1's buffed by banners that i love doing but it really would be way better.I'm only putting in two saddleburtes because this deck can't really resurrect them.return to the ranks is awesome in this and thanks for pointing that out. if i made these changes it really wouldn't have any tokens in it and it'd be recursion tribal, but i like how that style looks. (not adding pharkia's cure because it just isn't as good as bile blight in khans). thanks for the advice!

You're very welcome! And I agree that token decks can be a lot of fun as well, it just seemed like the warrior shell you had would have been better served with more non-tokens. I like your changes. I'm assuming that the 2 missing cards would be the Bile Blights? I might just run 3 Return and then 3 Blight. And Seeker of the Way might be better than the Hordemate. If you want to invest a little more money into the deck, Caves of Koilos would be a great fit, but you can also go with the Khans life land Scoured Barrens- they are common and won't cost anything. And lastly, you could run Mogis Marauder in the sideboard. Bring him in against non black decks to help get those final points of damage through. I'm really curious how this deck runs now- it looks like it would be a lot of fun. :-)
