Deck Description

So this is a budget deck I'm working on right now. I love the idea of slivers and wanted to play my first standard deck as pure sliver without breaking the bank. I'm still new to MTG, I've only been playing for a few weeks, but I love the mechanics of slivers and how they work together.

Still working on my sideboard.

Any comments/advice appreciated.

*Update - added/removed some cards per suggestions. Looking at 2x Garruk also.
*Update - altered land count, added 2x darksteel ingots to help with any mana color.
*Update - Elixir to sideboard, added 2x Sentinel Slivers, adjusted thorncaster and farseek count, added silence.
*Updated - added/removed some cards to keep it standard. Subbed in some theros.

How to Play

Use manaweft's for early mana ramping and to help with white mana when needed (with a few plains).

Path to help get slivers out. Xenagos to get creatures out fast.

Deck discussion for Slive and Let Die (Standard)

If you are going to play Hive Stirrings and other color slivers you need more any color mana sources to be effective. You could play 2 dual Lands (Sacred Foundry), or Darksteel Ingot, or fetch a single basic (white) with Terramorphic Expanse The deck however, works well as just green/red. Add some cards with the bloodrush mechanic, and some burn Mizzium Mortars, Shock. Sideboard should contain, Pit fight, Fog, Plummet, Smelt, and Clan Defiance. The deck should run smoother, and be less expensive to build. Creeping Renaissance is a nice touch, but I would move it to the sideboard and bring it in vs res/ black decks with a lot of elimination, or board clearing cards.

i added pit fight/fog/plummet/smelt/defiance to my sideboard, great card suggestions. still learning how to properly deck build so all this is still fairly new to me.

i like the dual lands, but when i looked them up online they're fairly expensive (for someone just getting into the game) so i may pass on those right now, might look into getting some ingots to help out with mana or some other alternatives. they are on my maybeboard right now though.

This deck needs a few things. First off, it needs some protection from removal. I agree with geezer that dual lands would be good, or you can invest in chromatic lantern so that you dont need that. With some white mana in here you could add Boros Charm, at least to the sideboard. Elixir of Immortality is good, but more of a sideboard card. Next, Groundshaker sliver is too overpriced. You only need one in the deck. Removing that will allow you to add some white slivers, such as bonescythe. Battle Sliver is also overpriced for its ability, and Thorncaster Sliver is so much better for the same cost. Door of Destinies is all but useless in a sliver deck. Your slivers will pump themselves up, so spending a turn dropping a card that will probably be destroyed as soon as it is out is crazy. Something else you might find useful is a little mana ramping. something like farseek goes well with a deck like this. Finally, you will stall out in a few turns and only be getting one creature at a time, at most. Slivers are meant to flood the battlefield, so I would suggest adding either Domri Rade or Garruk, Caller of Beasts to allow yourself to draw extra cards. Creeping Renaissance won't really be useful because of the high mana cost to cast it, so protecting your slivers in the first place will be much more useful. My own sliver deck has been doing really well at tournaments if you want to take a look at it.

ditched/added some cards at your suggestion, thanks for the tips. looking into getting a couple of garruk's if i can find some for trade, but they're on the expensive side to just buy. hopefully with the changes i'll have a bit of a smoother/faster deck.

also your deck looks awesome.

cheers.

Well if you really want to get Garruk, I would say sell your mutavault or trade it. It helps in this deck but honestly, Garruk helps more. Just a suggestion, though. Mutavault is an awesome card regardless.

yeah i love mutavault, i pulled one about 2 days before starting this deck. i have a few things i'm lining up to trade for two garruk's, but it's definitely at the top of my "get this now!" list.
