Deck discussion for Werewolf Revenge

Why are you running Immerwolf with Huntmasters? It kind of defeats the purpose of having Huntmasters.

Why no huntmaster?

it doesnt destroy huntmaster...but you want the huntmaster transformed before the immer comes out...but, for his token producing would be only once more when he goes back to huntsmaster, due to immerwolf making it so he cant change back again.

i have the two in my deck as well. it is all up to you and how much you want the wolf tokens that huntmaster makes...take a peek at my deck if you want. i have them and play it as needed

Huntmaster is a human werewolf so why wouldn't he change??

yes, but with immerwolf in play he wont flip any more and Huntmaster depends on flipping as much as possible to get out the tokens.

what you would wanna do with the immerwolf is get all ur cards out and flipped as you want then throw him so they cant change. but huntmaster needs to change as much as possible if u want to work with his abilities.

a choice is weakening your field with cards to make huntmaster transform back and forth, buuuut like i said your fucking the rest of your field for one card

but you can make the arguement that u wont get immerwolf every game and huntmaster is a great add to the deck in that case. also you could throw the immerwolf as a kind of final ramp to kill/overwhelm your opponent (both are reasons why i run them in my deck)

soo its up to you how you wanna run your deck, if you dont depend on the huntmaster abilities too much then keep your deck, if you want his abilities then make a change or two

Immerwolf is my favorite wolf for that theme. It really makes me want to make one. This one is pretty solid, but I would not run 4 wolfbitten captives. Learn from my mistakes, you will not have the mana to pump both. I do not like to run playsets of a single card unless it has an absolute need for it. I have a power RG deck as well. Check it out:

you want immerwolf out and you dont want huntsmaster to flip more than once. With Mayor Flipped you get Wolfs at the end of your turn every turn, plus immerwolf pumps up all wolfs and werewolfs. Put Hunsmaster back in these people telling u to take him out are tards.

Look at my Deck : http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=377559

This is what you want minus my 7/7 infect's.

If you're not preemptively avoiding the shift on October 5th I would add some Green Sun's Zenith.

i would put in scorned villagers since ramping for captives is nice. also I would take out huntmaster and put in silverhearts, you want huntmaster flipping as much as possible and so it doesn't really fit into a werewolf deck since you don't want your werewolves to flip.

Also I would suggest reckless waifs or something alone those lines since your turn 1/2/3 aren't the greatest. I'd also take out thunderbolts and put in searing spear since the only thing you'd really want to kill with thunder bolt is restoration angel iirc and it's completely useless as removal if they aren't playing that. Putting in reckless waifs is your choice since they are more aggroish but i would def do the scorned villagers and silverheart.

I'd still run huntmasters. He doesn't get his effect repeatedly with immerwolf, but you still get a 3/3 wolf token, 2 life, 4 burn damage, and a 5/5 with trample with immerwolf out for 4 mana. He could do more without immerwolf, but he doesn't really have to, he's still an amazing 4 drop, especially for the games where you don't draw your immerwolf. If you have an immerwolf out, people are going to want to kill it because it helps your other wolves, but if huntmaster is also out theyd be a little more hesitant. idk, I'd run at least 2, there's way more reasons to keep it than there are to get rid of it.

My comment is that this is a very good deck, but my opinion is...on the mythically speaking lycans suck ass and vampires are better. Still this is a good deck. lol

I really like werewolves regardless of what the haters say. They consistently flip and do 20+ damage.

Huntmaster blows in this deck. Don't use it.

In my experience, the win condition almost always includes one of these 3 cards: Kruin Outlaw, Instigator Gang, Moonmost. Occasionally, Full Moon's Rise or Wolf Run will save you.

I'm not sure about Garruk in here, I've never found the need to delay or get more bodies. I prefer card draw in that slot cuz I'd rather get another Kruin or Instigator after they kill / ratchet bomb / etc than a wolf token.

Bonfire is an awesome addition. Hard to get better than that.

I'd probably add Daybreak Ranger in there somewhere. He's guite useful vs almost any aggro matchup.

I think Ancient Grudge is a must in the SB.

But, overall I really like it. Nice job!

If you'd like to look at my list, here it is:

I would think about adding a Mondronen Shaman or two. Once that puppy is transformed it really makes your opponent squirm!

What should I put mondronen shaman for??

0

Ya, looks like its getting better to me. Reckless waif will definately make it faster.

I'd still drop huntmaster because with immerwolf - it's counter productive. When I play ww, im all about the aggro - the attack is where i get the win. So, i want the wolves to flip and stay there cuz that's where they are the strongest.

Mondronen Shaman looks like fun, but I've never used it.

Wolfir Silverheart - on the other hand - is a total dominator! It could be game over when he drops! Only problem is he costs 5.

With 24 land, you shouldn't miss too many land drops. But, you might occasionally be mana flooded.

So, here's my next set of suggestions:

-2 huntmaster
+1 mayor (he's awesome in this deck)
+1 immerwolf (again, this and the mayor help make those attacks for 20+ possible)

-1 Wolfir Silverheart
-1 Garruk Relentless
+2 Garruk Primal Hunter (card draw or add a body)

Then, for the sideboard
-2 Ulvenwald Mystics
+2 Daybreak Ranger (vs delver, tokens, or flip and fight)
-1 Scorned Villager
-1 Geistflame
+2 Beast Within (planeswalkers, or catch all for the unexpected)
-2 Natualize
+2 Ancient Grudge (vs pod, wurmcoil, swords, etc)
-2 Geistflame
+2 Pillar of Flame (vs undying creatures)

Triumph of Hordes might be nice to add more card draw for long games.

Torpor Orb and Grafdiggers Cage are also 2 of my favorite SB cards right now cuz hey can shut down snappy, angels, frites, undying, etc.

I really like the sheperd and villager for the roles they can serve, but i just haven't figured out how to fit them in with what you're doing here. So, I'd probably sideline those unless you want to ramp more or expect to need more unblockable effects.

The trample provided by the full moons rise and wolf run - or the flip of kruin usually takes care of the need to break through the opponents defenses.

Hope this is all good fuel for you!
