Deck Description

This deck plays very heavy control.

Idea is to get elite arcanist with pretty much any instant.... Artisan of Forms allows copying of opponents creature when fated infatuation or retraction helix is played. That lets fated infatuation be played.

If elite arcanist can copy a dissolve, that'll lock 1 of opponents spells per turn mana permitting, whilst maintaining card advantage. If the arcanist can exile fated infatuation, then can use the fated infatuation on artisan of forms to get 2 copies of an opponents creature..... Can also be used for another elite arcanist, which could net 2 counters per turn....

This deck is just to see if it works, and I welcome comments on how to improve...

How to Play

Control... Let ur opponent get one big thing out - you want to copy that by targeting artisan of forms with fated infatuation. After copying, can return it their hand then counter it later.

Get the arcanists out, use counters or fated infatuation.

Deck discussion for Copyright Control

I don't like to see more than 1 copy of cards like Negate & Nullify in any main deck... ...may be 2 Nullify at most, but only if you already run at least 4 other counters that could counter any type of spell...

The Arcanist is a strong card, but against aggro, it won't be fast enough... ...having 4 of it is a gamble, since if you draw 1-2 of it at late-game, there probably won't be anything in your hand you can combine it with...

4 Hybranization main deck?.. ...won't sit well... ...not against almost creatureless control, nor against fast aggro decks, since there will still be a 3/3 threat amongst other creatures that attack you... ...tough Hybranization could be useful, when you have 2-3 in hand & you're up against an AEtherling, but if the opponent has braines, he/she will keep at least 2 blue mana open, if not more... ...& if you can destroy AEtherling, you'll still have to deal with 2-3 3/3 dudes.......

I doubt mono-color control decks could cut it these dayes in standard...

Might add in a couple more aetherize - your right about the aggro, and that could help to get a grip, but only by T4 which seems too slow.

I need to work on SB - the negates and nullifies would prob come out in favour of something else against non-creature heavy.

The hybridization is there to help get rid of a creature which you let out to be copied. Prob don't need 4 MB though, ur right.

Mono-color control may not cut it currently with RTR block still included. I just fancied building around arcanist, artisan and fated infatuation, which I really like in terms of flavour and how they interract together. The fact that fated infatuation is 3 blue just made me go mono...

Maybe I will re-visit this idea come rotation.

artisan of forms's interesting. tested a deck like this against an aggro green and retraction helix really really useful. It's good to play a copy of your opponent's deck's creatures haha. too bad clone's going out of standard good thing's fated's there but only targets yours though.... Any suggestion what color can i splash with this kind of deck? thanks.
