Deck Description

For $10 this deck is a good place to start for newer players or players who aren't familiar with mono blue.

This themed deck is built around Arbiter of the Ideal which is why most of the cards are Creatures, Artifacts, or Lands. This helps Arbiter help you in bringing cards out quickly. The deck is made for Modern format instead of Standard because Arbiter of the Ideal is not legal in standard.

This deck is themed based on Ancient Egypt and uses only creatures that fit that theme. The deck is made up of Sphinx', Spirits, a golem that protects ancient treasures, a construct covered in runes, and Salvage Drone which reminded me of a scarab beetle. The Artifacts used in the deck also fit with the Ancient Egyptian imagery I was going for.

How to Play

Endgame with this deck is to have Arbiter of the Ideal bringing a card onto the field every turn. Cards put into the battlefield by Arbiter will also be Enchantments making Helm of the Gods a great power boost for this deck. It is also suggested that Oracle's Insight be put onto Arbiter of the Ideal so that Arbiter can be used to Scry, Draw, and Summon without the risks of having to attack.

This deck uses two very basic blue tactics.
The first is not being blocked on offences. Half of the creatures in this deck have Flying and Flitterstep Eidolon can't be blocked, an ability it can share with a creature it Enchants, making this deck all about getting hits in without being blocked. Alchemists Vial and Skeleton Key are other contributors to the objective of making the game work in your favour.
The second is the ability to draw cards. Oracles Insight, Blighted Cataract, Conundrum Sphinx, Runed Servitor, Salvage Drone, Skeleton Key, and Alchemists Vile will be very helpful. These will increase the pace greatly for this deck.

To get around some of the drawbacks of a mono coloured deck (particularly the troublesome protection from blue ability) the creatures Salvage Drone, Runed Servitor, and Custodian of the Trove will provide some coverage. These, together with Helm of the Gods and Chariot of Victory, will be essential if a protection ability comes against you.
