Deck Description

This deck is part of an effort to undisclose strange potential in the already established colors, as well as another take on common strategies and Magic tropes. This time around, we're facing a common, classic, even a little outdated Control deck - which is commonly monoblue - built with the red and the green colors.

It is not uncommon to see cards with control potential in aggro or stomp decks, but they only serve very specific purposes, like enhancing the damage output of your creatures by controlling the opponent's.

But how can we apply the whole strategy and use these cards?

Beast Within, Decree of Annihilation and Bind are fantastic cards that not very commonly see play in decks. Let's see how we can put them all together in a genuine control deck, shall we?

How to Play

I am using Viashivan Dragon for no particular reason. Green is a color with the best finishers around, from Avatar of Might to Liege of the Tangle to Thorn Elemental - you name it. Red has Myojin of Infinite Rage, too. Point in case, I just like Viashivan Dragon for aesthetical reasons. Don't mind me.

Arboria and Tangle tend to hold the player's creatures for quite some good time, while Beast Within, Hull Breach and, as a last resort, Decimate deal quite well with other permanents.

Deck discussion for Red and Green Classic Control

Decimate is just a bad card, if there isn't a legal target in play for every part of it it's a dead card. Then once there is 2 or 3 targets your opponent has that you want to destroy you have to target your own things. You would be better off running Destructive Revelry.
