So, I started building this deck over a year ago, but most of the pieces I really wanted to include (i.e. Carrion Feeder, Diabolic Edict, Unearth) weren't legal in modern at the time. Thanks to Modern Horizons, this is no longer the case. I really would love to make this deck more competitive. I've been drawing on inspiration from 8-rack decks I've been viewing, but that's not exactly what this deck is attempting to do.I'm on the fence currently as to whether or not to include Carrion Feeder in this deck, mainly because you specifically have to sac creatures to him in order for his effect to go off. I like Mortician Beetle because it happens whenever anyone sacs a creature. I'm considering pulling out the Desecration Demon and the Skirsdag High Priest in order to pull in the Feeders, but idk at the moment and need to play test this current version in my meta to see what happens. Any suggestions are welcome as I am relatively new to playing black in modern and not sure where to go with this deck project at this point, other than including discard strategies like Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek. Last Notes: I'm not sure if I like the Urborg inclusion, mainly because I don't like helping Grixis or Esper players out and I don't really see any synergy in this deck other than making my Fields and Mutavaults able to tap for black. Also, I'm very uncertain of how to prepare my sideboard for this deck and would love some help with it. Update: Made some serious changes to this deck after play testing with the owner of my LGS. Added Liliana, Heretical Healer (still waiting on 2 to come in the mail) and added Altar of Dementia to have a sac outlet that is hard to remove. Also main boarded some Relic of Progenitus and Surgical Extraction (still need one more Surgical, but currently only own 1).
Maybeboard: Undying Evil, Cast Down, Carrion Feeder, Ogre Marauder, Demon of Catastrophes, Tragic Slip, Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek, Defile, Songs of the Damned, Spark Harvest, Crypt Ghast. Considerations: Gutterbones instead of Reassembling Skeleton. Also add 2x Mutavault and possibly 2x Crucible of Worlds (to replay Mutavaults/Field of Ruins).Edit: Pull 1x Smallpox, 1x Unearth to make room for 2x Liliana, Heretical Healer.

Thanks Mephisto. The reason that Doomed Dissenter and Reassembling Skeleton are in here is because of the danger you speak of. I've seen some great things happen in standard with Priest of Forgotten Gods. Being able to sac two Doomed Dissenters or Skeletons while having a Beetle out can potentially grow the Beetle +3/+3 (for free), and if I happen to have an Unearth or two in hand this is even better because I'd have double black to reanimate the Dissenters or Skeletons, which is some pretty nice synergy. As for the Agent of the Fates, I'd have to completely restructure this deck around spells that could target him in order for heroic to go off, so I'm no to enthusiastic about that one, although I've made a note of him for other lists.
