Deck Description

I decided to try my hand at an Azorius control deck. It's a bit card-heavy, so suggestions to trim it down and to improve it are appreciated!

**Note, I'm just using my Sideboard as a holding place for cards that are going in after the rotation, or just for ideas. Don't worry about it's legality. It's bloated, I know.**

How to Play

Pretty much just hold onto some mana to remove your opponent's threats while building up your side of the board. Use Detain, Pacifism and Celestial Flare on any creatures that aren't countered and use Silence to prevent your opponent from casting spells during their turns or when you're planning on making a big attack.

Bident of Thassa will help you draw cards consistently when you're attacking with fliers and have removed any blockers with your control.

Deck discussion for Azorius Control

I would use more creature with flying, maybe instead of Master of diversion
witchbane orb could be only sideboard, if you oponent has spells that targets you

Render Silent : this is better then your Cancel
Bonds of Faith : this is still Standard and is better then your Pacifism(has the option to boost your human if needed)

Sphinx Revelation is always great when you have no card left to cast, gives you life and cards back

Thanks for your comment! I'll defininitely look for some Render Silents now. And Bonds of Faith is a great idea too, I think I'll throw some in my actual deck for awhile, but I'll have to take it out of the deck once they rotate. Sphinx's Revelation is great too, but they're a bit pricey, so I'll keep them on sideboard.

Hm... just noticed that in the current meta I come up against a lot of humans so I think Pacifism is more solid than Bonds of Faith. Just because I'd only be powering up my opponent's creatures...

You could try reducing all your non-creature spells to 2 or less, and try to make some room for Judge's Familiar. They are pretty good for pressuring.
You may want to consider Syncopate as well.

Great ideas, I'll make room for Syncopates and Judge's Familiar, and try to find some cheaper spells.

Azorius charm should be in the mainboard since they have such useful abilities. I suggest putting the Solemn Offerings in the sideboard. I suggest Lyev Skyknights instead of the Master of Diversions. You can also add Ascended Lawmages if your sticking to the flier theme. If your willing to go into the Avacyn set there is a neat enchantment called Favorable Winds that give your fliers a +1/+1, downside is that it's hitting rotation soon.
The Counsil is a little bad and maybe should be put either into sideboard or removed in total. You can add cheap 1 drop fliers such as Cloudfin Raptor if you wanna be aggroish.
The Blind obedience can also be sideboarded since they're mainly used against heavy aggro. I'm also not a big fan of martial law, if you can, I think Detention sphere would be a better choice.

Thanks for the ideas! I had Ascended Lawmages originally but I wanted each creature to have some sort of control in some way (like tapping and exiling), so I took them out, and Lyev Skyknights detain on the turn when they come out, but next turn when it's attacking the creature could still block. I like the Master of Diversions because it removes a potential blocker each turn, but I'll try both to see which works better. Cloudfin Raptor is nice, I'll probably add some. Council removed. I personally really love what Martial Law's been doing for me in this deck though, so I'll keep them around. Also I find a lot of Rakdos, Boros and Jund aggro lately, so I think I'll keep Blind Obedience. Detention Spheres are nice but I don't have any, so I'll see if I pick some up before I add them here. Thanks again.
