56 Land Deck!!!(60 cards total..

by planestalker on 01 April 2011

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

I'm so thrilled ;-()

I just self discovered Treausure Hunt and Mana Bond combo and threw this deck together.

Enjoy!!!

Treasure Hunt
Sorcery, 1U (2)
Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a nonland card, then put all cards revealed this way into your hand.

Manabond
Enchantment, G (1)
At the beginning of your end step, you may reveal your hand and put all land cards from it onto the battlefield. If you do, discard your hand.

Basic Play

1. Mulligan till you have Treasure Hunt.
2. Lay land until you have 1U and G
3. Cast Treasure Hunt (hope its not countered)
4. Draw library until you get Mana Bond cast Mana Bond (and again hope its not countered and hope you drew alot of lands into your hand hand and hope mana bond was not the last card in your library ;-))
put all those lands into play.
5. Next Turn attack with a bunch of man lands and hopefully win.

Any ideas to improve deck welcomed.

- Mulligan till you have Treasure Hunt? Errrh... right... good luck with that.
- 1 Manabond? Like, keep drawing land until you finally draw that one Manabond? Good luck with that as well. Most decks, even really slow ones will have beaten you long before you finally draw it in case it's at the very bottom of your library.

The concept is kind of interesting, but... you can do better than this.

Have a look at my Speedfall deck to see a slightly more effective way of laying down a lot of land and actually also having a better and more immediate use for them.

might as well have 2 or 3 of each spell though right? then youd actually pick one up for sure.

Hi Kharay1977,

Hmmm, what can I say. Either you don't get the concept of the deck or maybe what you really meant to say "Like, keep drawing land until you finally draw that one Treasure Hunt?"

Concept of deck.
Once Treasure Hunt is cast the deck automatically will keep drawing until the one and only Mana Bond is found that is what Treasure Hunt does "Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a nonland card" the only other non-land card is Mana Bond! No Luck needed!!!

But maybe what you really meant to say keep is drawing land until you finally draw that one Treasure Hunt. But as I say in step 1 it is assumed you will have mulligan's until they get a Treasure Hunt and as Castroa so rightly says in respond to this step AHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHH as the chance of this happening with a regular tournament mulligan are around 7/60 or a little over 10% of the time. This is not good odds. But if your casual group allows for all land mulligans like mine does the odds jump to 50% so.... I can rightly say you can begin with a Treasure Hunt in hand.

Pretty similar decks exist in competitive legacy, but they run about 43-45 lands. The idea isn't stupid, but the number of spells you're running is. Try 4 Treasure Hunt and 2 Manabond, it will be less impressive when it works, but will work many, many times more often.

Hi Gifts and berkner,

Thanks for input. Have made adjustments to deck and Title of Deck accordingly. Having never made a deck quite like this before I thought keeping it as simple as possible would insure the combo would work as long as its not countered or have bad luck and the mana bond is close to the top of the library.

Why add serum powder when you could add an extra treasure hunt instead and not have to mulligan in the first place?

Lol at turn 1 dark depths turn two treasure hunt draw until manabond and hopefully you had a hexmage in opening hand turn 3 use hedgemage and attack ftw xD too bad it wot happen but it would be funny.

In regards to this deck, i dont like decks where you cant last without a card. Soo im not a big fan i think more around 45 lands would be better:/

Plz take a looksies at my "invulnerable" deck lol

Took a look at your "invulnerable" deck . Left a few comments and suggestions.

Yeah, is this is more of a joke deck. Fun to pull out for a quick laugh.

Tell your friends you have a deck that 56 of its 60 cards are lands and it can sometimes kill in one turn (not turn 1) if not countered and that it doesn't use fastbond, channel, zuran orb & petried field or any tutor card and they might be intrigued enough to let you play it the Treasure Hunt just to let them see how the decks works.

Peronally I'd ad 2 cards to it to give your mana beef. hydra protean and stampede.

Interesting ideas Findfishy,

The hydra protean is a very nice card I'm not so thrilled about stampede but in any case both cards would interfer with the drawing of the manabond which is really bad for this deck. I have toyed around with adding in tutors though.

If you have any deck you'll like me to check out post a link.

The idea of stampede (actually overwhelming stampede) is to bring all your lands up to the same strength of the hydra and give them all trample. The only way to survive that is damage prevention

Heres a red hord deck I'm thinking about building

You need 4 treasure hunts for sure and also when you mulligan you lose 1 card for each time you mulligan. In casual most people don't do this UNLESS you mulligan to find ONE CARD!!! Interesting deck tho.

serum board is a bad idea, it could interupt your spell and force you to discard everything

1

Hi Branden,

Very good point. Testing of deck proved your point to me. Adding serum actually decrease the odds if getting Mana Bond while it only slightly improved odds of finding Treasure Hunt

Thanks for the input. If there is any deck you'd like me to check out post a link.

Each time you mulligan, you draw one less card than before. The chance you'll get your Treasure Hunt by mulligan is only 38.6%, and that's assuming you mulligan all the way down to one card, which is very dangerous. If you only let yourself mulligan down to five cards, then your likelihood of getting your Treasure Hunt is only 27.2%.

If you compute the likelihood of drawing Treasure Hunt *and* a blue mana source by your second turn, you actually dip slightly below a 1/3 chance of success, and that's assuming you mulligan down to one card.

It just won't work often enough to be a reliable strategy. Otherwise people would actually play a deck with 1 Fastbond and some lands and some Banefire type spells, and then mulligan for Fastbond.

1

Yeah the more I test the desk the less I like serum powder.

I'm replacing Serum Powder with a Treasure Hunt. and replacing one of the Treasure Hunts with Mana Bond

After testing deck alot alot Berkner was right 2 Treasure Hunt and Two Mana Bonds seems to give the best overall chance of hitting the combo.

While 3 or 4 Treausure Hunts does increase chance of getting Treasure Hunt through Mulliganing they also significantly reduce chance of finding Mana Bond after casting Treasure Hunt and also do not allow enogh lands to be laid by Mana Bond to kill opponent on 2nd turn.

With 2 Treasure Hunts and Two Mana Bonds after much testing I find

Pulling a Treasure Hunt with 7 new cards (as allowed by my gaming group) after each all land hand mulligans is at about 40%

Pulling a Mana bond after casting of Treasure Hunt is exactly as would be expected at 50%.
So 40% times 50% only gives only 20% chance of deck working properly for a win. And the chance actually is lower than that because occasionally the mana bond comes too early before you can get enough lands into your hand to do enough damage 2nd or 3rd turn to win.

The real trick is to talk your game group into letting you mulligan until you have a Treasure Hunt in hand and not allowing use of counter spells on first turn. Like that would could really happen ;-))

Not to mention, you now run the risk of a 1 in 3 chance that casting Treasure Hunt will give you a Serum Powder and no Manabond...

you should use simic growth chamber instead of th threshold land

1
Posted 15 April 2011 at 04:53

Hi dagbaker

I'm not sure what your reasoning is for simic growth chamber and against threshold land.

While simic growth does speed up mana a little bit It does nothing to help attack opponent it even returns a land in play back to hand as it enters the battefield causing me to lose a potential attacker
and this deck needs all the attack lands it can get. into play.

In group games in which this deck has been mostly played getting out mana fast has not been a big concern. The really big concern with this deck is counterspells. If fact, I've toyed around with putting in

Boseiju, Who Shelters All
Legendary Land
Boseiju, Who Shelters All enters the battlefield tapped.
{T}, Pay 2 life: Add {1} to your mana pool. If that mana is spent on an instant or sorcery spell, that spell can't be countered by spells or abilities.

If it wasn't for the comes into play tapped trait and it being a legendary card (and mana bond requires all lands in hand to be played, thus increasing chance of 2 Boseiju canceling each other out of existance) this would be a great card for the deck.

Hi Mitrogi,

Thanks for input. Why don't you post your deck idea? Your deck is in a real sense very different from mine as my win condition is based only on attack lands and your is based on valakut and some attack lands.

As for slowing down magic if I had choice between sleep and playing Magic. I think Magic would win. Keep having fun and may you always make your own good luck.
