Deck Description

This deck can make a big shrouded creature by turn 1 without using Entomb.

The idea is on an opponent's turn 1 I counter one of their spells with Foil (counter opponent's spell for free by tossing and island and discarding a big creature) and then next turn Exhume or Reanimate that creature. That the reanimated creature gains flying and shroud upon coming into play just seems magically broken to me.

If you need to keep the deck Legacy legal replace Frantic Search with Breakthrough or Brainstorm.

Deck discussion for Shrouded Reanimator Deck

why 4 exhume and not 4 reanimate?

Hi runner220,

Good question. The Inkwell at 9 casting casting cost and the Empyrial Archangel at 8 casting cost means a whole lot of life loss if Reanimated. With no life gaining ability in this deck it is unlikely player will use Reanimate card more than once unless player gets lucky and Thoughtseizes a useful creature into opponent's graveyard and then reanimates it sometime in the game. But most of the time the Thoughtseize is used to remove counter spells, graveyard extraction, and sacrifice removal spells like Innocent Blood not for creature removal.

But you might have a point though because with 4 Reanimate in deck that will improve the chances of doing the Foil + Reanimate combo early in the game.

But the real main reason that I have 2 Reanimate is because originally I had 4 reanimate and 12 Islands and I really wanted to add 4 Mox Diamonds to add mana acceleration to the deck to improve the odds of being able to Foil on opponent's turn and then + exhume first turn.

So if you'd rather have 4 Reanimate feel free to cut back on the Mox Diamonds. But if I had a choice I'd rather Exhume than Reanimate on turn one.

Yeah i realized after i posted that you were probably thinking about your life total. I think the deck works better with the 4 mox diamonds over 4 reanimates and 2 mox diamonds.

Could you? I need help on my jace's mill v2 deck. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=232783

and this deck was just a random thought but i would like it to be good http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=234691
