Deck Description

Lure a pumped Vanquisher to keep your opponent low on creatures. When you got enough power, Lure on your smallest Elf so all other can hit in the face of your opponent while his/her creatures all block the Lured Elf.

Suggestions greatly appreciated!

Deck discussion for Elvish Ambush

Question: If Iswitch my Llanowar Elves for Arbor Elf, will I be able to use Arbor to untap Oran-Rief, the Vastwood? I am not sure because Arbor's rule says: Tap: Untap target Forest. So does Oran-Rief count as a Forest?

Unfortunately, no, Oran-Rief does not count as a forest. :/ Arbor Elf would probably become a rare if it could untap ANY land and just for that reason.

thank you for your answer! it's as i thought, i just wanted to make sure! haha. As you said, Arbor would be way more powerful if he could untap any lands!

Arbor elf strictly speaking is better than llanowar because of his versatility.

I agree, but in this deck, he would not do anything more than Llanowar.

Straightforward, fast, and kicks your teeth in before you can draw a Day/WoG. Yup, it's an elf deck. XD

Alpha Status is so big in an Elf deck! on your Defiant Elf... its like a 20/20 trample on turn 4-5 haha. Then you got all you mana Elves+Doubling Season+Helix Pinnacle=20-30 counters per turn! haha different strategy, and still shows Elf power!

ive come across a lot of white decks that would just prevent the damage when i would go to attack so i put the helix pinnacle in there so i wouldnt have to worry about that ^^

Couple ideas you may run with. First, you may prefer Nemesis Mask to Lure, or just want to use both. The ability to move Nemesis mask around seems to help what you are going for. Also, check out Taunting elf--it's a 0/1 with Lure for G. Lastly, Infilitration Lens on a Taunting Elf/Lure/Nemesis Mask is ridiculous...

t1-forest, llanowar/arbor elf
t2- forest, taunting elf, infiltration lens (drop and equip)
t3- forest, Ezuri, regenerate Taunting elf, swing with it--draw 2 cards for each untapped creature opponent controls.

Thank you for the advice.

About Taunting Elf, it does not realy fit with my strategy.

Nemesis mask is good for siwtching, but it cost 3 to put in play then 3 more to equip... with lure i keep it in my hand to pop it just on the right time...

Infiltration lens, that would be nice to draw and speed up, but i do not know what to take out for it... any suggestion?

702.2. Deathtouch
702.2a. Deathtouch is a static ability.
702.2b. A player assigning combat damage from a creature with deathtouch can divide that damage as he or she chooses among any number of creatures blocking or blocked by it. This is an exception to the procedures described in rules 510.1c-d.

So that mean my Vanquisher does not even have to be Trample to kill multiple creature when lured! i think i will remove the Paragon, the Twinblade(only there because it is a good Elf Warior for G) and the Oran-Rief(only there to give as much +1 counters to get trample from Paragon). I will replace them with 3xImmaculate Magistrate(to over boost Joraga) 4xEzuri's Archer(for some defence against flyer) and 1 more Joraga Warcaller. The Oran-Rief will be switched for forests as Oran only slow me since it come in play tapped.

I am not sure which to choose for sideboard between Beast Within and Mercy Killing.

Beast Within is nice to get rid of any annoying PERMANENT my opponent control putting only a 3/3 beast in his/her control. Can be used on my own forest late game for some extra ending blow.

Mercy Killing can get rid only of annoying CREATURE my opponent control puting X 1/1 elves on his/her control, X is the creature power (which can put a lot of 1/1 on his/her control if its a big creature). It can also be used on my own puped elves to make more elf (pump an elf with Immaculate than mercy kill it to have pretty much same effect than a Elvish promenade.)

any suggestions?

Well, keep in mind Mercy Killing can take out indestructible creatures, which Beast Within can't. Also, If you do end up putting infiltration lens in here, then that on a creature with lure when you give them a lot of 1/1 elves will make you draw lots of cards (sometimes too many).

Also, when looking at Mercy Killing, think about a lot of the elf cards that are affected by "each elf in play," eg, wellwisher, priest of titania, elvish guidance, timberwatch elf, wirewood pride.
