Deck discussion for GuttRider

I've always liked Electrickery. :)

...true, but the 3 Pillar mainboard & the 1 extra in theb sideboard is enough for that perpouse... :)

...I'm thinking about changing Chandra for Thundermaw Hellkite... ...watcha' think?..

Pillar is great for specific creatures, but if you find yourself up against hexproof creatures, Electrickery is the better way to go in my opinion.

Chandra or Thundermaw... I think Chandra fits better with what you're doing here. Deals damage and copies spells. Thundermaw is great but a little spendy for a deck like this. Plus his 3rd ability can be done with Electrickery and it'll hit all creatures, not just flying. It won't tap them like his ability will, but again, it's way cheaper and you could copy it with Increasing Vengeance and/or Chandra. ;)

You'll also get more use out of Guttersnipe that way. :)

...you are right :)

...if I use 2 at the same time, or copy 1, than I can shot down Geist of Saint Traft... ...& I thought this was only good for spirits, human & mana dorks... :)

...anywayes, this is not a tournament deck of mine, but I like to test warious things.... ...I haven't made a standard mono-color deck for a while & this type semt to be the most worthy to build....

Hey Poet, would you do me a favor and check out this Standard deck I built? I want to make it better and would like your opinion.

Reverberate is way better than increasing vengeance

...against certain decks... ...yes... ...but in late-game, I get more value out of Vengeance...

...Reverberate is devastating against counter-filled decks :) ...thought if I run only 2 spells like this, Vengeance is more fitting...

...I'll ponder on this some more though... :)

Hellkite is definitely better than Chandra if you have it. And maybe infernal plunge would help...sac arsonist for snipe on turn 2 and a dead mana dork?

You are probably under the age of 13... :)

...though this deck isn't any of my tournament decks, it still does not suck... ...for a mono color standard deck, these dayes, it kicks quite some ass...

...in the future, please, spare me from your thoughtless comments!.. :)

Nice deck poet, I don't know why Chandra and Hellion Crucible are so underplayed been so good in RDW decks.

Have you seen the new burn called skull crack I believe coming with gatecrash? 2 mana and 3 damage to target opponent, it can't gain life or prevent damage this turn (thragtusk counter lol) Seems like a good addition for this deck once its out :).

Same thought here! :)

...after seeing that card, Thragtusk automatically came to mind... ...that is a good sideboard card, but also could be usen in mainboard (2 copies)... ...in sideboard, 3 copies...

...thanks for your suggestion!.. :)

Maybe you could add in Devil's play? You can double it up using Chandra for ALOT of damage as well as with Increasing Vengeance and Reverberate. It could lead to some surprising blowouts. Ref. Gatherer Website.
" If the spell Increasing Vengeance copies has an X whose value was determined as it was cast (like Earthquake does), the copy has the same value of X."
" If the spell Chandra copies has an X whose value was determined as it was cast (like Consume Spirit does), the copy has the same value of X."

If you have the time could you please check out my updated USA Mid Range deck please. I could use some help with the mana base as well as your thoughts on side boarding for my metagame.

Thanks for your suggestion!.. :)

...I'd rather use Bonfire(though I can't copy it with Chandra, when I cast it for it's miracle cost)...

I'll check your deck...

If you're ever not playing standard, I would highly suggest goblin grenades, but I like the deck, it seems very sound.

Nice RDW man! Interesting route though, no Thundermaw's which is fine cause your going goblin's for more hellrider triggers.

Though I'm not sure of the placement I think it would do you well you use Ash Zealot as it is an amazing creature for red. 2/2 Haste, First Strike, your not using much if anything from the graveyard so it will probably benefit you more than it will your opponent considering Gravecrawler, Unburial Rites, Snapcaster etc. aka decks using some graveyard regen/flashback whatever.

With that said I think you could be better off going with Reverberate instead of increasing vengeance because vengeance only works for you spells and it's flashback seems unlikely as you should win before you can flashback a searing spear or something for 9 to the face. Reverberate allows you to copy spells from an opponent as well as yours. So for all you know it presents a good counter-counterspell or something like that.

Vexing Devil, still not and will never be sold on this card. I just don't see it as it will always be played to your downside. Unless your only want with the card is to burn someone early or provide small tempo mid game.

Thanks!

...you are right about Vengeance... ...I should win be4 I could flash it back... ...I use Reverberate in the sideboard, but I'll just put it in the main deck...

...I'll put Ash in the sideboard...
