Deck Description

This is a fairly simple Zombie Aggro deck with some control elements.

The idea is to apply early pressure and make the opponent stumble early to control it well into mid game. If you don't win by the end of mid game then you will probably lose, but that's the risk of running an aggro deck normally.

If need be, there are plenty of control options to swap out some of the creatures or the Liliana's Mastery with.

A side note, if you have Liliana, Death's Majesty then do put her in over Liliana's Mastery. She does a lot more for then same amount of mana. I just can't afford her, so she isn't mainlisted in this.

Leave some comments on other possible cards that could work well. This is my first deck for standard in over 4 years and would love to know if I still have a knack for this game

How to Play

It's very simple.

Play Zombies fast, control with large numbers, potential negatives for losing zombies and removal. Get a large-ish board in as few turns possible and then use In Oketra's name and Lord of the Accursed to make them stronger and run them over.

Backups are Diregraf Colossus and Liliana's Mastery for token production. Swap in a little bit more control if you are vsing decks you just cannot run through fast enough.

Deck discussion for Zombie Aggro/Control

There's an enchantment for 1 mana that gives all zombies menace. I'd also suggest wayward servant, and if you have the money liliana death's majesty.

Damn, good suggestion on Graf Harvest. That is something I would really like in there now. Time to update the list.

Wayward Servant was a card I originally tried the deck with, but more often than not it wasn't doing much when I went through something like, 20 playtests, so I left it out. Other people might be getting more out of it than literally 2 or 3 damage like I was somehow.

The Liliana I would like, but money is an issue for me. It definitely trumps out the current 5 cost enchantment in there now though. I'll leave it as a suggestion in the deck description.

Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it.

I think you are loosing out immensely if you don't include full sets of the rare zombies (Relentless Dead, Dread Wanderer and Colossus), but also stuff like Cryptbreaker and Plague Belcher. The card advantage Breaker gives and the power of Belcher seems too good to not include.

This was the one problem I had with making this deck. I had too many options.

The Cryptbreaker was nice, but i decided to include the Tattered Mummy over it, just because people tend to not want to get rid of it as easily from life loss.

The reason I don't have Plague Belcher is because I feel safe enough using just the Festering Mummy. the lower cost for another turn 1 option is nice as well.

The reason for no full sets on all rares is mainly availability for me, but that's a personal issue more than anything. If you can have full sets of it, use full sets of them definitely (especially the colossus).

The main idea is to use binding mummy and Graf Harvest to push for a win as fast as possible anyway, so whatever list helps you get there the fastest is what will work for you. the best part about having so many cards to choose from is that there are so many different little things that each deck would be able to better than another.

Thanks for the comment man.

I do think mono-black is the best way to build right now. In Oketra's Name is highly situational, so is Time to Reflect.
Binding Mummy is okay but the only good white Zombie for me is: Wayward Servant.
But that one creature should not be worth playing another color.

As mentioned before try Plague Belcher if you find room for him.

Read the Bones is direct upgrade to Painful Lesson. Not sure if either of them is needed. Vs. aggressive decks you take your turn 3 off to draw two and take two?! Vs. controll matchups drawing one extra doesnt seem worth it. Midnight Oil could give you a more lasting card draw and you don't play instant spells to keep in hand anyways.

Dark Salvation seems to be fun. Early game its {B}: target creature gets -X/-X where X is the number of Zombies you control. Lategame it becomes a mass token production...

To be fair, you could splash white for wayward servant. It's not uncommon in competitive decks. Also, In Oketra's name was probably meant for embalm decks. It helps all creatures if they haven't been embalmed yet, but you really want to use it on zombies.
Also, another good white zombie card (synergy) that I forgot to mention to PossUmKitteHXD is time to reflect
