Deck discussion for Steel Overseer Modern Artifact Deck

Throw in some counters to protect them until you can get out the protection? Just a thought

Frantic salvage or remember the fallen could be good too.

Cheers for the advice, but I kinda thought skeleton shard had that covered? The counters I thought about, I do have stoic rebuttal in my sideboard... any better ones that that? Thanks though :)

The shard is good, but it can only bring back one thing at a time, and only an art creature at that. It can't bring your marks back or your other shards back, or your scourglasses back. The frantic salvage allows you to bring any number of artifact cards back, and they don't have to be creatures. Remember the fallen lets you put 2 cards right into your hand, and they can both be creatures. Or one doesn't have to be. I can't recall how many games I have lost to a good usage of those 2 cards.

As for counter spells... not really any that I can think of without spending an arm and a leg for. mana leak is pretty popular, but not a sure thing. But it is more flexible for mama at 1U instead of UU. I personally don't care for it, but that is your call. Also, if you just want to protect your permanents you could use turn aside. Counter target spell that targets a permanent that you control, for U. Just a thought.

Thanks for that, I was just looking at turn aside today and thinking that would go pretty well for what I want it to do. I don't think I need to bring back the non-creature artifacts that badly, as even if scourglass fails then I have 4 each of go for the throat and dispatch to work with... and I know frantic salvage and remember the fallen are good, but they're both one offs and I like being able to re-use the shard, especially as the only non-creature artifact that generally gets targetted is the scourglass, and I could use turn aside for that. So if I bring in 4 turn aside cards, what do I ditch for them?

um... hmm. maybe vault scourge? or some of your more costly artifact creatures.

Yeah I agree to ditch the 2 stoic rebuttals and 2 vault skirges for 4 turn aside, but do I put them into the main deck (and if so what for?) or leave them as sideboard?

That depends on what cards you run into.

i would say sideboard them, and pull what ever cards don't fit the situation.

Your not keen on tempered steel. Would just make all your guys a lot bigger. Then not relying on a couple dudes to do the killing thats all.
