Deck Description

I'm working on a new extended deck to play, as I have grown less fond of Bant with the rise of Red and Scapeshift. Here's a tentative Grixis Control list.

Deck discussion for Grixis Control

I like it, but I think it is lacking a finisher, a real heavy hitting card. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it common for Grixis control to run a Cruel Ultimatum or two for that purpose?

Also, why Inferno and no Frost? I'm assuming the shift in extended towards easily ping'd wimps?

I knew I was missing something! Thanks.

Frosty isn't too good in the current meta, while Inferno is good vs everyone. Kills hawks, mana dorks, faeries, and elves galore!

Glad to help. And that's what I figured. I know from experience that Inferno is a nightmare for Fae -_-

Hmmmmm Bolas is an interesting idea. I feel however I would rather drop a spell that wins if it resolves. There are answers to Bolas, but much fewer to Cruel

Now here's red used in a way I can understand for once!

Grixis control is fun to play, but I see a LOT of lists for it that make no sense, in fact I think yours is the best one I've seen yet.

I think a third mana leak could be helpful though, it's probably just me, but I like grixis to run at five counters.

I'm liking it dude, it's got a healthy amount of counters, and a supply of killspells that's perfect for the current meta in extended.

I think I'm going to use this as a template for a revamp of my grixis(I haven't touched on it since scars), which leads me to again say; one of the best grixis lists I've ever seen

I can only agree...the best Grixis list I've found right now...

However, what about adding Earthquake for Volcanic Fallout?

I considered Earthquake, but ended up choosing Fallout mainly because of how hard it hits Fae. It is usually a board-wipe vs them. I made this deck a while ago though, and changes in the meta might make Earthquake better right now

Just a thought, why preordain over ponder? Personally I much prefer ponder, being it's the same mana cost, but with ponder you to look at 3 cards over 2, and if you don't like any of them you can just shuffle and hope! Hope this helps, deck is lookin' good :D

Thanks! That is a good idea, Ponder is definitely better than Preordain. I'll make that change
