Deck Description

this is my first attempt at a jund devour deck. please help me make this deck the best it can be so I can make all my friends cringe when I come to the mtg table with it.

devour creatures to make other ones bigger

How to Play

Play small creatures like goblin arsonist and viridian emissary to either chump block and kill them off or use goblin bombardment to sacrifice them to use there ability's.

Ideally you will want to play a sprouting thrinax next and use him to get more tokens so you may devour them with your other creatures.

Use mana ramp cards like caravan vigil or viridian emissary to speed up the process a bit more.

Once you have a some tokens use mycoloth to make your army grow even more.

Now that you have an army play creatures like hellkite hatchling and scarland thrinax and pump them up with tokens.

Swing with your creatures or burn your opponents out to win the game.

As many mtg players know lots of things can happen in the coarse of mtg game so just in case you cant stave off damage with fogs or kill there creatures fast enough with putrefy I added some marrow chompers to gain life if your in a tight spot.

Deck discussion for jund attempt 1

Where be the rabblemaster? or Krenko?

I really like where this deck is going. I do have a couple of suggestions though:

-Remove at least one copy of Fog.
You'll only need like one fog-like-card in a game. I think four of them is just too much. (My opinion.)

-Remove one copy of Caravan Vigil.
You don't need mana ramp here. (Max mana cost is 5.) I believe that the Vigil is here just for mana fixing.

-Remove one copy of Goblin Bombardment(?)
It is highly annoying to draw multiple Bombardments during the same game. But then again, someone may remove it and the Bombardment is a really good card...

-Some token generation?
Cards like Dragon Fodder and Krenko's Command are really good for sacrifice.

-Cards that profit from death?
Death's Presence, Golgari Germination and Blood Artist are just examples of good abusers of death.

But as I said, I like where this deck is going. Push forward!

Thank you for the helpful advice. I have changed the deck some as of right now. I will continue to work on it although, from the start I have planed on making this deck an ongoing project. I would love to show you the completed version when every thing is all said and done.

Thank you for the like as well. It makes me a little more confident in posting other ideals that come to mind.

Your mana base is out of whack. You're running three colors with Just 4 land grab effects and only 20 lands?! The deck is far too dependent on top decking the proper mana you need. You probably want to add some terramorphic expanse or evolving wilds if you don't plan on running more grabs. Your mana curve is relatively small so I'd suggest hovering around 23 lands.

Also I would recommend Awakening Zone since it provides blockers/mana/sacrifice triggers and has great synergy with blood artist. If you do decide to run awakened get zone you might consider dragon appeasement. If you have enchants that make tokens every turn its very effect draw advantage late game.

You might wish to consider Sakura tribe elder over Emissary since you can crack it at instant speed. People tend to ignore emissary in my experience.

Priveledged Position doesn't protect your deck from its biggest threat (day of judgement/pyroclasm effects) on top of costing 3 green it's unlikely to see play until late game if at all.. You should focus constantly dropping out devour/sacrifice fodder instead of trying to protect it. Replace it with some goblin assault which is just like rabblemaster but pyroclasm won't get rid of it.

You already have good token generation but those tokens are just going to sit there til your fatties can devour them. Add Beastmasters ascension to give them a huge boost.

I think you should go down to 2 bombardments. Your devour critters are your largest source of damage and your fodder should be saved for them whenever possible. Also multiple copies of bombard are redundant.

Hope This helps

you should do a 2/2 split between dragon fodder and krenko's command since they are the exact same card but a different name. This prevents that card from being ripped by things like surgical extraction, meddling mage, and nevermore. Not needed but may one day come in handy since you lose absolutely nothing from the 2/2 split.

looks interesting as all hell tho, thats for sure.

If you're gonna focus more on the Goblin token generation, (krenko, fodder, k's command etc) You'd probably be really interested in Voracious Dragon.

I run those dragons in my goblin deck, and many times just shoot them in the face for the win.
