Deck Description

This deck is my baby, my first commander deck that I've finally fixed up to work better. I am more than willing to dump as much money into it as I feel like. It focuses on Marath's core abilities and ways to amplify and exploit them:
1.) Counters
2.) Damage
3.) Tokens

The sideboard is future cards I will buy for this deck.
Most likely going to remove for future cards(nonland):
1.) Devoted Druid
2.) Fertilid
3.) Rampaging Baloths
4.)Vizier of Remedies
5.) Commander's Insignia

For lands, I first need to find out how to generally fix the mana base and maybe add more basics. Afterwards, I'll make more cuts for the other lands I'll be buying for the deck in the future.

If you would like to build the deck but cheaper, feel free to leave a message. I've played around with Marath and I'm sure I could make a few different focused decks around him of varying prices.

How to Play

When starting the game, I hope for a good early Marath play, so keeping a hand with mana dorks and proper mana is pretty crucial. People who haven't played against the deck will think you're a token deck with some extra tech, people who have played against it will think you're a filthy combo player. This deck does both very well so try for a heavier token strategy if you feel the need, or rush for the quickest combos to get Marath to win as possible.

Note: Always only remove a single counter at a time. If you have five mana, don't remove five counters to do something, remove one counter, wait for responses, then another, and so on.

Known ways of winning so far (Or just ways I've won with it already.):

Mana Echoes+Cathars' Crusade while Marath is out = Infinite Tokens and counters. You can remove counters at instant speed to ping people down or if able, swing in with big boy tokens and a big ol' Marath

Going Wide. There is a lot of ways to get tokens in here, lots of ways to get even more bang for the buck too. Flood the board, break their spirit.

Impact Tremors and Purphoros, either of those on the board and people will get scared, so having Marath with a good few counters on him to make tokens with will be grand, a Mycoloth or Avenger of Zendikar can trigger your opponents downfall.

I have a few ways of doing this last combo which is why this version of the deck is even made, so find a way to put counters back on Marath such as Pir or Hardened Scales. Then find a way to give your tokens Haste, with cards like Fires of Yavimaya or Ogre Battledriver, then have either Song of Frayalise or Cryptolith Rite out and bam, Infinite tokens, counters, and damage. This is why Doubling Season is so important for this deck, it literally fills the spot of two cards on this large combo. A combo that is very hard to deal with since you can respond to pretty much anything anyone does by making more tokens, taping them for mana, removing a counter from Marath to add two back onto him, then pinging someone for one, then repeating. It's nasty and lovely all at the same time.

Lastly, you can always just shoot down peoples creatures with Marath, and go face with Marath. If they have hexproof, then remove that by shooting the opponent. If he or she has hexproof.. Well, that's bad. Hit them hard with a lot of tokens?

Here are some ideas you could consider:
