The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

For the deck challenge: http://forums.mtgvault.com/showthread.php?t=2656

Design a B/R deck focused on discard and Liliana's Caress.

Discard with Liliana's Specter, Bloodhusk Vampire, Painful Quandry, and Mind Shatter.
Destroy lands with Melt Terrain and Roiling Terrain, inflicting damage to the opponent as well.
Pretty much, slow down your opponent as much as possible, and deal damage to them along the way.

Deck discussion for Liliana's Quandary Stone

Damn, this deck is MEAN. Seriously, OW. It's not fast, but once it gets going, you're going to disable your opponent fast!

Going back over this, actually, you really need to watch your curve. If you're lucky, you're forcing discards by turn three, but by then a lot of decks will already have aggro on the field.

Advice? Knock the red out completely and run more discard, like Duress and Mind Rot. Try adding Sign In Blood as well. Take out the Captivating Vampires, you're not really running enough vamps to make them worth it. Another Liliana wouldn't hurt you either and you can easily replace the Bolts with some good, solid black kill.

Pretty much agreed with all of the above. If I were building a discard deck (Of which, I have a mad decent vintage specter deck, but also intend to create a standard legal Quandary / Nihil Stone deck too) it'd be mono black. But, this was designed for a deck challenge requiring the deck to be B/R.

I mistakenly designed this deck to be standard (which, Mind Shatter slipped in by accident), though the deck challenge is extended. There are likely much better ways to accomplish the discard / land destruction theme I set out to do within extended format, and I plan to explore those options sometime later tonight.

i dont understand why captivating vampire is even in this deck, you have a total of 8 vampires in the entire deck, his second ability is useless, and vampire nighthawk is far better for simply being a cockblock and it comes with lifegain.

Updated the deck, here's v2.0

As for Captivating Vampire, the deck did not rely on his ability, but with Liliana (aka reusable tutor), I could search for the vampire or two needed to steal a creature. It wasn't a reliable strategy, but it was the fact that it was possible, that if an opponent could get a creature out even through the lockdown, it would do them no good.

Also, I said I intend to construct a mono black deck with the theme of Liliana + Painful Quandary + Quest for the Nihil Stone. Here it is:
