Ha maybe at first glance. The function is for artifacts, and in particular, artifact creatures, to power together for increasing strength, and placing more and more on the battlefield. Besides lands, only 7 card types are not artifacts themselves. If you take a closer look, do you still feel that they're random?

yes, your wincon is Platinum Angel, Platinum Emperion, Steel Overseer and Master of Etherium which makes it look like a really bad and slow combo deck

I don't agree fully. It may be slow to find the better artifacts, but that doesn't mean it's a bad combo. The smaller artifacts actually move fairly fast. The functions are to increase in strength, decrease the cost to cast the artifacts, find the needed ones, and then to place them directly onto the battlefield. I'd say once any of the large artifacts are placed, the game is set essentially. I also don't think it's so slow that an opponent would overwhelm before then
