How to Play

This is my non budget version of the Xenagos deck. It's really fun to play and can consistently win on about turn eight or nine, but without any combos.

Deck discussion for Xenagos, god of Gruul

cards i would add and have played with in my own xenagos deck are deus of calamity, kessig wolf run, ruric thar the unbowed, vines of vastwood, hunters insight, chandra pyromaster, greater good, outpost seige, vexing shusher, there are a ton of other things i would do with it but then you would be building mine .lol

My reason for not running Deus of calamity is because I didn't have one and my local store didn't either. But I just got one for eighty cents, so what should I take out for it? My local store also lacks a Wolf run, which I would put in instead of rougue's passage. I'm going to take out a Dragonlair spider for Ruric Thar.

Hunter's insight isn't that necessary, as we've already got a Hunter's prowess which gives a small boost. Vexing Shusher is another win more card, because I'd rather just out pace my opponent without having to pay an extra mana to make something Uncounterable. Outpost siege is an extreme situational card. I don't know what I should take out for the Deus.

Vexing shusher is good depending on your meta. If its conteol heavy its good if not its bad. Polis crusher is what I would take out. Savage vent maw is also insane because woth relentless assault it goes infinite. Out post seige just draws cards

I have a savage ventmaw in this deck, and it does not disappoint. I just wished that you could cast the creatures you pay for with the mana it makes before combat. Urabrask does nothing for this deck, since the creatures I have get haste from Xenagos' ability. Ill take out archetype of aggression for Rancor. I'll think about the rest.

Some cards to consider:

Strionic Resonator -- Being able to copy your commander's ability can be absolutely devastating. You can either give the same creature both bonuses, or two different creatures the bonus for just 2 mana.

Bow of Nylea -- The passive "attacking creatures have deathtouch" is great on its own. I'm not fond of most of its other abilities, but the graveyard recovery is pretty nifty.

Dragonthrone of Tarkir -- I have heavily considered running this in my own Xenagos EDH. Sure, your commander can't attack, but he's now giving all your other creatures +6/+6 and trample until end of turn, every turn. That's not even taking into account his passive buff he gives something every turn. Alternatively, put it on something to be buffed and then have that creature share its newfound power with everything else. +12/+12 and trample, why not?

Elemental Bond -- Consistent card draw in a power-heavy deck like this for only three mana.

Sol Ring -- Why is there not one in here? It's a staple in EDH.

Anyway, just suggestions. I'm sure there are several that I know of that I just haven't recalled yet.
