Deck Description

A tribal control Wizard deck. The main weapon of this deck is Oona, queen of the fae combined with extraplanar lense to put as many creature tokens as you can onto the battlefield and then attack. Cards like Patron wizard, Sower of temptation, Surgespanner, Ertai etc. etc. are there to control the game while you build your ranks with the help of aether vial and stonybrook banneret.

It stands very well against black and white control decks, especially if you manage to have 3 wizards, including patron, in play by turn 3.

It lacks some speed compared to goblins or elves tribal decks but after all blue isn't the color you will play if you want speed. Yet, it can stand pretty well against a goblin or elf deck if the sideboard is added to help things out.

Have fun playing this deck and please comment and rate. You will help me get better in building decks.

Deck discussion for Wizard Control Ver. 5

Hey Scywalker,

I'd like to point out that your deck contains 63 cards instead of the standard 60 or 61. You may want to cut a handful of cards to strengthen the consistency of your deck.

Since you're playing very powerful spells like Force of Will and Aether Vial, it seems slightly ironic to run slower / less common cards such as Cathartic Adept, despite the slight synergies they may have with your deck. I would suggest running four copies of FOW and Aether Vial in the maindeck. The numbers in your build also look a bit strange (hence the one-of's and two-of's). I assuming you arrived at those numbers after lots of playtesting? This is, after all, a fifth version of your Wizards build. Regardless, your build of Mono-Blue Wizards looks very impressive.

Hope these suggestions help,

Azen

You are right Azen in amy things but I am running this wizard deck since the release of Onslaught, back in 2003 and if you see my profile you can view my previous wizard decks. The reason I have 2-3 copies of some cards are the following: Many cards are legends and i don't need many copies inside the deck and running 4 of some creatures doesn't seem very important to me for this specific deck because in legacy you have many threats to overcome, although I've tried to run fewer creatures and more copies of some specific key creatures like Patron and surgespanner but didn't help me out. Lastly I tried to decrease the size down to 60-61 but I can't figure what should I remove. I am thinking of Vendilion clique but yet again it helped me in some serious situations. Maybe with the new expansion comming out the deck will change again and I will post the 6th version of this deck. Until then I will think of your advice and try to follow it.
