Deck Description

Yaay, snakes and hydras, I love those cuties! <3

I found the picture of a Primordial Hydra's promo card and immediately fell in love with it, and what did I do next? Designed a deck around him and his other hydra palls ofcourse! This deck is actually only green/white/blue, but Progenitus brings in the other colors. After I took few games with a deck with Lorescale Coatls in it, I wanted to do a deck where the main goal would be making biiiiig and nasty creatures with +1/+1 counters. Ambush Vipers and Wasteland Vipers I brought in simply because they're cheap and their deathtouch is a great way of controlling your opponent. Who would like to attack with a bigger and more expencive creature just to get killed by a cheap little snake with deathtouch?

How to Play

The main goal is pretty simple: try to get your creatures grow as quickly and as big as possible. Bring your Kalonian Hydras as soon as possible on the battlefield and whenever the situation seems good bring Primordial Hydra on the table also. The best situation is where you have two Kalonian Hydras and atleast one Primordial Hydra on the table = even if only one of those Kalonian beasts attacks you have yourself two 10/10 beasts with trample and you get to grow your Primordial also.

In the early game you can bring in Wasteland Viper or Ambush Viper to give you some protection from some bigger creatures your opponent controls. Since like I said in the description: who would like to give his/her bigger and more expencive creature to die to a much smaller and cheaper creature? You can also play the Ambush Viper with the flash to suprise your opponent when he's/she's attacking to kill some precious or nasty creature you want off the table. Also use the Lay of the Land to get some land you need.

Bring in some of the enchantments whenever you can, especially Doubling Season and Citadel Siege. You want to bring Asceticism on the table if you know you have Fireballs or other nasty spells against you. Doubling Season is a very sweet combo with the Hooded Hydras: bring them in with a morph cost, then if you have a Doubling Season on the table when you would be able to turn him face up, do it. You get a 10/10 beast with only five mana! And even bigger if you have both of your Doubling Seasons on the table and Hardened Scales! AND if you have the Doubling Season(s) when your Hooded Hydra is about to die, you get a sh*tload of snakes, so your opponent will have a hard time to decide do he/she want one big creature or tons of little ones.

Use Solidarity of Heroes and Incremental Growth to boost your beasts and possibly to make your little deathtouch snakes big, nasty beasts also. You can also suprise your enemy by attacking with some precious hydra (for example) when it's not so big and your opponent could kill it with a bigger creature of his/hers and when he/she diclares the blocker(s) you can double the counters on your hydra with the Solidarity of Heroes to kill the blocker(s). But be sure you're really safe to attack since you wouldn't want to do a suicide mission with any of your hydras.

Finally lets talk a little about the biggest and the most interesting creature of this deck: Progenitus. Don't never EVER tell that you have him in this deck if you're playing a casual game, because after that your opponent will most likely kill the one creature you need on the table to bring Progenitus in: the Orochi Leafcaller. If you're interested to see him on the battlefield you will keep even one Leafcaller safe, since she's all you need. Also you need enough forest to pay the mana cost. When you have all the mana needed to pay the mana cost of Progenitus, you just convert the needed mana with the Leafcaller's ability since you don't have to tap it to use the ability or anything. Beware that your "protection from everything" -beast can still be dispelled when you're bringing him on the battlefield, so keep an eye on your opponents manasources before casting him. He's not the star of the deck, I brought him along just for fun. The stars of this deck are Kalonian and Primordial Hydras and their awesome ability to grow fast.
