Deck Description

This very unique deck idea kind of came to mind as I was looking through the cards out there (in MTG history) that do damage to all players. Obviously the only trick is to make sure you survive these spells while your opponent doesn't. So the primary objective is to use your Sigils or Last Mercy to save yourself or get a lead that you can ride out till the end. The legendary Pestilence, as well as another red burner identical to Inferno, are both Vintage/Legacy only. In keeping the deck Modern-legal, which is more-often played, I was left with a deck of 56 cards. The four solo cards are the solution to that dilemma.

Admittedly, this is a rare-heavy concept, so it'll be tougher to build.

How to Play

I really believe the dilemma has been turned into a competitive advantage.
Each of the 4 solo cards either bolster the primary concept or provide an alternative game-ending option, or both.
Everlasting Torment turns Tree of Perdition, which is there for Pyrohemia, into a potential game-ender as Pyrohemia or other spells weaken its toughness
Triskaidekaphobia is self-explanatory but obviously requires a little planning and manipulation
Biorhythm attempts to win the game say 1-0 or 2-0 in your favor.
Finally, in a deck of 24 lands, Retreat to Kazandu gives you that extra little bit of life-gain to give you that all-important lead in life total.

I believe few decks will be able to put you behind in life fast enough in the 3 or 4 turns it takes for the deck to really get going. That's because this deck's attack style will so quickly clear the battlefield and keep it that way ever after. Plus the Sigil and Last Mercy can save you if needed.

Of course, the ultimate fail-safe is your ability to end the game in a draw if it comes to that.
