Deck discussion for Dark Depths

why 4 Cotv? i know they're good, but I don't think you need 4. maybe i'm missing something, but I don't think they're even worth the maindeck slot, especially not as a 4 of.

alright, so it just clued in that you have no 1 drops and all the removal spells that can target it, essentially, are 1 drops.

now I see the need, hahahaha sorry man,

ever played against a turn 1 chalice on 1. it creates so many dead cards. also it protects my dark depths combo from spell snare and swords to plowshares. turn 1 mox+chalice is my best opening. also loam decks have ways played chalice main.

Impressive list here, and having played against these, Chalice is a necessity. I'm not too fond of the Sinkholes though. I think Hymn would be much better in the slot and would overall provide more stall in the long run. Another thing is that with 2-drops and up dominating your curve, Bob is going to hurt after a while. That is, unless you're using him for the higher speed compared to Arena. Otherwise I'd consider the Arena.

Hope that helps man =]

My first build yesterday was running 4xHymn to Tourach but then I thought why not push the land destruction theme all the way. 4 Vindicate+4 Wasteland + 2 Sinkhole + Loam/Crucible hurts a lot of decks, combine that with Tabernacle and Maze and it seemed solid. I playtested against a few T1 decks yesterday. I defeated Team America, I defeated NO-RUG and WB Stoneblade with bitterblossoms was about 50%, seemed like it could go either way.
My sinkholes have been buried in my map for a long time but in this list I believe they are the right call. It's only 2 so not to many potential dead cards and they have great synergy with the deck blowing up the few basic lands decks are running these days. An alternative would have been smallpox but I don't think I can afford it most games. I need to play that early game Bob.

Bob is ok in a list with that many lands and 1 sylvan library. When playtesting Loam the last few weeks including this list yesterday I often had 2 Bobs on the field with no problems. I only once vindicated my own Bob last night. The thing is with Tabernacle I can easily get rid of him and with huge knights and a 1 turn clock dark depths the deck isn't really all that slow.

The problem with Hymn is that I feel like just playing Hymn isn't enough. If you play hymn you need to back it up with thoughtsieze or simular so that the deck has concistent hand disruption. Team America backs it up with stifle/Daze/Misstep/Force, there it has a strong synergy wirth the rest of the deck.

The only thing that felt awkward about was having tabernacle on the field and then going for the worm harvest kill. It's very couter productive. Then again worm harvest is a great dredgable kill and proved its worth. I did ran into it with Bob one game (still won) and taking 5 hurts. Cutting Tabernacle for it is no option, Tabernacle ruled all night.

thanks for posting (both of you)

PS: there's 35 cards in the deck with casting cost zero, Bob is really good in this deck even without library manipulation.
