What's the moonmist for?

What happens if you're playing against a werewolf deck. It's worthless then.

That's what a sideboards are for :p

I don't know how it is with your group, but we only have one player who plays a full werewolves deck, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

It can transform Delver of Secrets, and the like, back and forth. I think Delver's are the most played transformer in standard.

Awesome deck, hehe must be veeeery frustrating to play against :D Constant fog, like in a reggae van =P

I had a similar type 1 deck like this, but it uses, moments peace and serene sunset and fog. This can really give ur opponets some headache. Nice!

I have the make a wish as sideboard for the moonmist if I play wolfs. this deck also mills very very fast so i can need to fog that often. especialy if I get a couple rites and erasures with a consecrated sphinx... they draw 3 i draw 6 they mill 12.... it's funny

ok i love the amazingness of turbo fog but i think adding white can give you a much better sense of security as far as standard goes.

0

Maybe, but running 3 colours is difficult to balance (both green an blue are important here). But cards like Day of Judgment and Oblivion Ring would help. If white does get added, Glacial Fortress and Sunpetal Grove mite be necessary.

yes i would suggest it bc of those maybe giddeon just gives you some more control over the opponent

I think moonmist costs too much for a fog and i personally would just main board the make a wish cards cause they can bring back a fog anyway i mean i know that helps the base but that can just save ur sphinxes also or just getting back ur snapcaster just putting out my thoughts but nice deck

I'd suggest putting in a couple of spellskites in here, if nothing else it helps protect you from mono-red burn + shrine of burning rage.

A card you might want to consider that is like Blunt the Assault is War Report. It gives you life for both creatures and artifacts on the field 1 life for everyone there is. 2 life if it is an artifact creature. Just a suggestion if you end playing a white deck sometime.

You probably want to add ponders and mana leaks. Setting up your draws is a very good thing, and mana leak is probably one of the best counterspells in standard. Overall i'm skeptical on the whole fog/mill thing but if it works it works.

Yea I gave it a go on MTGO, splendid just splendid!!!

Running it as is I was often mana starved and lost that way, I ended up taking out 1 Rites of Flourishing and 1 Gitaxian Probe and adding in another forest and another island, I also changed out an Island for a Forest for a total of 7 Islands and 11 Forests and the 4 Hinterlands.

Using this configuration I am winning roughly 80-90% of my games, although alot of people scoop once they realise what is going on.

It is such a fun deck to play, although I can imagine it is horrible to play against.

i have seen a simular build to this. and i have to ask, how well does this do against illisions (they are the most annoying thing i have ever been up against).

0

Using my slight slight slight modifications to mana base I have had massive success against every major deck type. The only things that have caused any real danger is a RDW that focuses on burn, and if somebody just happens to mainboard/sideboard Elixir.

Other then that I have had extreme success.

Nice deck but what do you do if your opponent has Laboratory Maniac and the cards to bring him back?

0
Posted 16 December 2011 at 05:12

I would say the chances of anyone using that in either their mainboard or sideboard are extremely slim

0

almost as slim as running into a fog deck.

Seriously though this kind of deck can be brutal to play against, there has been a couple in my play environment as casual decks, the main threats to them are Solar Flare, RDW, and U/B control. However there are many decks that can threaten it quite well. G/W tokens, Tempered Steel, U/R counter burn are some of them. Anything that can keep pressure on from early game all the way through can hurt, all it takes is one turn w/o a fog available or an opportunistic counter to end the game for you, I'd strongly recommend putting in some naturalize in the sideboard at the very least to contend with opponents siding in Witchbane Orb, and mana leaks for pesky Grand Abolishers (who are often maindecked by WW Humans and G/W tokens for the side). They just ruin your whole day.

0

I entirely agree, with your comment. A method of removal for Grand Abolisher is crucial as he will entirely wreck your day as well. I suppose Beast Within may be up to the task however.

I also agree that Naturalize may be useful for removing witchbane, however I honestly do not see that sided so often but that may be purely in my Meta.

It may also be useful to board Nihil Spellbomb in case you run into an Elixir. I actually ran into a Solar flare deck that boarded in Elixir... I think I ended up milling 150 cards but the damn sun titans...it hurts.

0
Posted 16 December 2011 at 21:04

Most decks that can run naturalize have access to Revoke Existance which is better for most of the Meta. Running U/G you don't have the option (and honestly I like the instant speed removal better anyway). A one or two of Disperse might help as well.

Oh I get what this deck is now. It's Standard Mill with Fog effects to stop incoming damage while your opponent loses cards left, right, and center.

Neat. well done sir :)

its good but it looks like fast agro will get you since you run no counters and the top agro decks do run counters. plus the whole mill thing is bad against flare decks and lily is a issue. you will have to face plains walkers it seems they can be a big issue for this deck also... not to be negative but i dont see this winning a fmn let alone any pro play at all.....looks like if a walker gets resolved or any agro comes into play your on a clock that you really dont have any answers to....

you need a playset of isocheron scepters for your fogs for this deck. one of my favorite things to do.

Somebody noted this above, and I think I'll ask it too. What do you do against planeswalkers? Liliana, or god forbid Karn, can really wreck your day. I don't know if it's something you've come up against, but I figured I would throw it out there.

0
Posted 20 December 2011 at 09:10

Beast within and Witchbane orb seem to do pretty well against most plainswalkers. I'm assuming that's why he sides them. There are allot of decks that don't maindeck against plainswalkers, and Karn is so rarely used these days in most meta's that he's really a non-entity.

In testing a variant of this deck on mtgo, had a game where I got liliana ultimated 3 times in one game and still won. And splashing white for doj and orings can give you the time and toolsyou need to deal with Garruk too.

lol gtfo ur not getting anywhere in a ptq with this half-assed deck.
or you could just get creative and make a deck thats your OWN idea, but i doubt an idiot like you could actually do that.

not to mention this deck is stupid anyhow.
u dont even have your colors right, wheres the Necrophalia Drownyard?
and wtf are you playing sphinxes for? so u can draw more cards then your opponent and mill yourself like a fag?
not to mention people play zeniths these days and they shuffle in so u just look stupid now dont you.
plus u dont even play counter magic.. wtf is your problem?
gl at the PTQ's asshole.

Two words: Grand Abolisher. What now?

0
Posted 30 December 2011 at 22:50

Literally not a card I saw in that deck that can do anything to prevent G.A. from coming out on turn 2. That is your end game.

You would need to side in more than just Beast Within to prevent the abolishers from helping a weenie deck dominate you.

0
Posted 30 December 2011 at 22:52

@opelak
If grand abolisher is cast then you fog in response. I run this deck too (although I didn't post it till recently) and I quickly learned to mainboard beast within and sideboard autumns veil. Since RDW is not that much of a threat veil is a 1cc anti counter. You are correct that grand abolisher is a nuisance but there isnt a deck in magic that doesn't get shut down by a single card. Having answers is the answer though. Here's how most grand abolisher castings go for me
Them: grand abolisher
Response: fog (or similar)
Them in response: mana leak (or similar)
Response: autumn's veil only if you will take lethal this turn.
Attack phase.
Next turn: beast within t- grand abolisher

So this is an example of how to take 5 top eights in a row at local's and to be prepared for ptq's :)
